The fact is the vast majority of pits never attack anyone. I've been around several and they were friendly and sweet pups. Very loyal to their owners. BUT, they're unpredictable and if they decide to snap, it's not like a corgi snapping on you. It's a problem.

This is a completely meaningless thing to say because the majority of all dog breeds never attack anyone. Saying that has no significance, but pit bulls attack far more than any other breed and they do far more damage and its even close.

Cool, let's ignore facts. We're not talking about "the majority of all dog breeds." We're talking about breed that a lot of people think are 100% evil. And that's just not true.

For the record, I'd never have a pit if I had a small kid. If it was just me or me and an sig other, different story.

Pit bulls are like black males. Obviously not all are bad, but a small percentage make up a large percentage of attacks.

shite maybe I am dog racist.

He has a point (if you believe you can’t judge humans by their color/backgrounds/circumstances/etc).

It’s not racism to look at things factually. I’ve meet plenty of great pit bulls that were sweet as shite, but when there are dog attacks and/or deaths, the majority are pit bulls. Facts aren’t racism

I had a pitbull that died of cancer in December. Great around kids and a great companion. If all pitbulls were taken out of the slums they would have a better reputation.

It's silly either way, but I'm sure Jon's brilliance is tying dog to a certain 'race' and that's why some aren't fond of the breed, Despite it having been bred to be hair trigger violent.

Correct. It's retarded either way.

Dog breeds were created to have specific traits. Whereas it's quite easy for a white person to find a black person and a white person and have more in common with the black person.

I was walking before my run on Thursday, a couple of blocks from my house, and I see out my peripheral a hulked up pit bull running towards me and barking, followed by one that was just as big. I immediately started yelling at at the one closest to me and stood my ground, like i would if l was dealing with a bear.

That kept both of them at bay, but the one closest was trying to edge closer. Got a couple of feet from me. Then this black lady in the yard caddy corner to the house I was in front of started yelling at them, and she was walking towards with something in her hand to use to fight them off if need be. She was going to try and help me, God bless her.

But then she looked down her street and I guess saw the owner and yelled at her that her dogs were out and had me cornered. The owner called them and they went around the corner to their owner. I couldnt see what house it was or who the owner was, and I wasnt about to walk towards where the pit bulls were going.

I want to do something about it but I don't know exactly which house they belong to. It scared the hell out of me to be honest. They could easily kill someone. Ive been cruising by the group of houses but I havent seen any dogs yet. Guess I'm going to have to start carrying protection on my runs now. If I were president id outlaw pitbulls and euthanize all of them.

Listen, I have a pit golden-doodle mix. By and large, she’s the sweetest dog most people have ever met. People refuse to believe she is part pit. She loves people. Her biggest threat to people is she likes to stick her head up womens’ skirts which flashes their underwear.

As much as I love her, I know she’s not perfect, who is. But I as a responsible dog owner know where she might be problematic. She hates stray cats. It’d probably be best if I don’t leave her around young kittens for example.

Every dog has their traits and they probably lean in more towards certain traits based on their breed. That doesn’t mean they’re 100% going to have them. What it does mean is you have to be prepared for that.

I don’t believe every pit is destined to be a bad dog by any means. I will say that they probably have a much much much higher barrier of ownership than other dogs and the people who tend to own pits tend towards being not responsible dog owners so there’s a major disconnect.
