Why would any of this be relevant? He didn't OD on marijuana. Unless marijuana somehow contributed to his death, I don't see why any of that is relevant.

I wasn’t in a frat but I’ve heard from people that were in frats and it sounds like you completely give up your dignity to join one.

I'm not a lawyer, but I would think proving the guy has a history of bad decisions that no one is forcing him to make would help out the defense.

And LSU Greek life just got that much closer to being killed off

yep.. including the ones that never stooped to that level.

The university and the fraternity itself all knew there were serious complaints made the previous year and a week before but did little if anything..... amazing how LSU's knee jerk reactions and new policies were not even aimed at the root cause of this.... also... serious question - did the kid drink or do any non prescribed drugs before he got to the house....keep in mind I find that type of hazing and forcing someone to drink reprehensible.

Drinking games, especially with potential new members, are just idiotic at this point in time. I'm sure they have guidelines against this and it will burn them. The bigger picture is that kids have been pushed to get fricked up as quickly as possible. This isn't just a Greek or college issue, it is a national cultural issue.

Why not go to trial and roll the dice. LSU can say frick you and not pay the judgment. You all know how judgments against the state work, right?

Congratulations lawyers. You scumbags have officially ruined society.

Somebody is hiring those lawyers right? That's like blaming gun violence on guns.

Since this is back in the news again, is it possible the Advocate website can find another picture of the kid to use? I swear I have seen this one a thousand times.

Outside of deep pockets, why is LSU getting drug into this? This is like saying that Chicago should be sued every time someone is shot in the city because it is a gun free zone and they aren't doing enough to maintain that.

It is not that he smoked pot per se, it is the fact that the parents are trying to portray the image of Max the Saint who was held down against his will and never did anything bad on his own ever, thus trying to prove that their son played no part in his own death. If he smoked pot and had large quantities of it in his system that night it proves he was a willing participant in a great many things and not so innocent.

Again, there are no deep pockets here. Gruver’s family can get a $25 million judgment against LSU and may never see a penny. A lot of plaintiffs lawyers learn this the hard way.
