Why did you take him to the ER?

I don't have an issue with the kid being thrown out, I don't even really have an issue with them wanting to ask for reimbursement (although it isn't something I would do). What I do have an issue with the OP wanting to demand payment as a means to "teach the family a lesson". That is just out of bounds and over reacting. He doesn't want money, he wants to stick it to the little shite that hurt his baby.

I'm happy that your son didn't need stitches. Another kid was playing rough and busted my kid's head wide open on the corner of a bookcase. Couldn't get the bleeding to stop so we took her to the ER (peds office was closed and urgent cares around here don't do stitches on kids) but thankful she didn't need staples or stitches and it wasn't her eye. I was angry at the kid at first but at the end of the day, accidents do happen. Focus and redirect your energy to your kid.

I would never ask them to do that. Kids do kid stuff and accidents happen.

Sure you could ask me…..I’d laugh at you but it doesn’t hurt to ask right?

You can get an IEP if your IQ is over a set amount or if you excel at an instrument or art. To be in gifted and talented programs you have an IEP.
But most IEPs are for behavior disorder. Lots and lots of kids with Asbergers and Autism and ADHD never went away. Growing up I knew one autustic kid. I know four People with autistic kids now. They have a right to school. And with work they can excel.

I have Anthem insurance, but an ER visit is like $1,000 in case you haven’t realized how insane our medical billing system is.
You are paying a stupid tax and should in no way expect someone to cover that for you.

This is the part you don’t say out loud.

My guess is they’ll decline to pay the bill but I’m gonna ask anyway to put them on blast as to their kid ruining the peaceful environment of this preschool. They should have known better before they enrolled him here.

And every parent is going to tell their kids not to play with yours bc the both of you are too fragile and reactionary.

Why didn't you just take him to his pediatrician? This was clearly during the school day, so the office would be open.

Damn.

What in the world. Just pay the bill if the school doesnt cover it. The kid may end up being a buddy of your boy for a long while. What is a couple hundred bucks.

And please use the urgent care next time, a simple laceration to the ER is overkill unless he was woozy or some other problems.

If the other kid is barred from returning, I think the problem is being addressed now. They might not come back if they secure other childcare someplace else.

Give the bill to the school and ask for a deduction for next month’s tuition.

If they refuse, make the hard decision about going someplace else that will provide a safer environment for your kid and respect you as a customer.

Well, he admited to being traumatized by a childhood injury that was not paid for by someone else.

How in the hell would one even know that payor source of childhood medical bills?

ER visit

If the cut wasn't bad enough to require stitches, it should have been pretty clear that he didn't need to go to the Emergency Room.

As a toddler, one of my kids fell and hit her head on the edge of a concrete patio. She must have hit a vein in her forehead, because blood gushed everywhere, all down her face. I cleaned her up and watched her for signs of a concussion. She was fine.

That same kid of mine was also on the daycare biting plan. Having been on both sides, being the parent of the aggressive kid is already difficult. I prefer being the parent of the bitten. This kid's parents are probably already having a hard time. OP said the daycare kicked the kid out until he gets behavior therapy. If they did nothing, the entire idea of this thread might make more sense. Going after the parents at this point is punitive.

This reminds me of a time I got in a fender bender because a woman was walking down the street wearing a bra as a shirt. I thought she should be responsible for the damage but she refused to pay. Nothing you can do really.
