Do this and every parent of a kid in the preschool will consider you a piece of shite. It’ll stay that way all through elementary school if your son is at the same school as his current classmates.

Exactly. How much we are talking changes the dynamic.

That's crappy insurance. Mine has been $100 for awhile.
Mine in two years went from a $200 co-pay to a $500 co-pay to 20% after deductible.

If this was an isolated incident I’d agree, but this kid already got moved from kindergarten back to preschool given behavioral issues. Someone has to stick up for the other kids’ safety and quality of education. I guess you’d just sit back and pucker up and let this kid injure other kids at the school as well? The line has to be drawn somewhere.

Get an attorney to send a demand letter to cover all med expenses and $2k in pain and suffering. Letter should be about $500 to draft.

Having kifd is expensive and sometimes you have to pay for things that aren't their fault. This is one of them. You have a healthy and i assume well behaved kid. Pay the bill and say a prayer for the other family.
For those of you who are saying the school is somehow responsible... what in the world would make you think that? In no way is that logical... not to mention the parents probably signed something saying the school is not responsible anyways.

That kid's dad, and probably the kid, are going to bang your wife.

These are my favorite threads. OP's question gets answered by a decent majority and yet they keep angling for the answer they want.

Tryung to sue the family to pay isn't going to change the behavior issues the child has.
This isn't a 17 year old dindu. This is a young child.

A lot of talk in here about turning the other cheek. It isn’t their kid that got sent to the hospital.
The kid also has priors and this wasn’t an accident. Who gives a shite what others think. Send the demand letter.

Nobody "sent" him to the ER. Parents took him after an apparent 4 year old Nolan Ryan threw a bottle at him and scratched his head.
OP is looking for someone to pay for his dumb decision.

My guess is they’ll decline to pay the bill but I’m gonna ask anyway to put them on blast as to their kid ruining the peaceful environment of this preschool. They should have known better before they enrolled him here.

The school basically kicked little Damian out until he has behavioral therapy, which will probably help more than anything. If anything, ask the school to reimburse. They were responsible for keeping the kids safe. But, idk. Similar happened to me with my daughter (freak accident broke a tooth.) I just paid the bill. Things happen and the other girl was a friend of my daughter and her parents are poorer than we are. I didn’t want to create drama for her at school.

My wife’s dumb decision, not mine!

This is just bringing flashbacks to me from flag football practice in elementary school when another kid body slammed me and caused a concussion and his parents wouldn’t pay the medical bills.

Also to add, in my daughter’s case, the “weapon” was also a metal water bottle. Schools should probably ban those.
