So...I guess if they were to find documentation that any of the 41 soldiers who died were of a religion other than Christian...they might have a case, since that is who it was actually built to memorialize. Why does the religion of those looking at the memorial matter?

I just don’t understand the desire to tear shite down. If something has been part of the landscape for a century, then I really don’t care what/who it “endorses.” It’s a piece of history, and obviously the voters of the time weren’t bothered by it when it was erected, so who am I to judge their decisions of their time in my current time?

Do we not protect old ugly arse buildings and other structures solely because of their “historical” value?

Seems to me like refusing to protect something or specifically targeting something only because it is a religious item would actually be the State interfering with religious matters.

People need to understand separation of church and state means Govt cannot officially influence a church’s or religions practice or endorse only one religion. Conversely, church or religion cannot run the Govt like in many Islamic states
