The better question is why don't these kids ride the bus?

ETA- my kid is at private school with no bus option so I carpool, but it's a tiny school and it's quick. But I drive by several public schools that are stacked with hundreds of cars. I can't understand the reasoning.

Grant it I like the wait because you get to do work related stuff and call business associates, but not for 60 to 90 minutes. 15 to 20 minutes for me. At my kids school the same people are there early every day. Why I don’t know.

My buddy said you'd probably be shocked if you did breathalyzers in the carpool line at the local elementary school.

We had a car pool in the 70s with about 10 kids crammed in a big sedan. One mom smoked in the passenger seat and let her 15 year old son drive us (up to 85 mph at times). Another would get drunk now and then and forget us at school. They both got kicked out of the car pool after multiple infractions.

Just like people rushing to get on a plane first so they can wait for 45 minutes

They are waiting for the school to dismiss their kid while waiting as long as 90 minutes.

I dont understand your logic.

Man... this reminds of the week my ex's mom went on vacation and I had to pick up the autistic daughter. So there's a special side lane for the short bus kids pick up area. It gets blocked off by the overly anxious Karens. What a grade a waste of time all that shite was. St Johns county FL has to have one of the highest stay at home mom population, because frick, those lines were insane.

The car pool line is a social event for some parents. Moms schedule play dates and compare notes on school staff, school functions, etc

I think half of them do it just to talk with each other. There is a private school that's three neighborhoods from mine. School lets out around 3. There are people lining up around 1:30. I know people whose kids go there, they just wait until about 3:10 to go pick them up because once they let out and kids start getting to their cars the line moves pretty steady so its pointless to wait so long.
