he did. he owned up to his crimes. i think he's the only LSP officer involved in scandal the past few years who has done so
Sounds more like hes bitter that he got busted and now wants to play the hero to the people. This is just like a married guy getting busted for cheating and calls out other married guys that cheat. Sour grapes. I bet he will become a states witness to get his time reduced if he already hasnt.

That sounds like another problem that needs to be solved.
And you think the answer is MORE regulation?

If he was writing tickets for legitimate violations, then I have no beef with him. My beef with him is that he participated in the scheme but now wants to object. He’s full of shite and /or disingenuous.
Like the politicians who espouse family values while they bang their secretaries or call for fiscal responsibility while voting for pet projects. Don’t participate in it and then become indignant when it’s convenient.
He’s only talking because he’s pissed at LSP and trying to be some kind of hero IMO.

He was committing pay roll fraud....nothing more nothing less.
He isn’t a hero taking down corrupt practices.
He was writing tickets one day but dating them another so he could claim overtime. He is nothing more than a thief trying to claim it’s the systems fault.

Err what?
Police, by it's very nature, is a government function. A fair trial by a jury of your peers is literally a defined government function, so it's already supposed to be insanely regulated. Even if I was arguing for greater legislation (spoiler, I'm not), I would be arguing for more legislation on a subject THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE LEGISLATED.
Even if you're arguing my original argument was "creating more legislation", it's because a governmental agency "i.e. police" have shown they cannot be trusted to or they are told to perform actions that proportionally do not support their ultimate goal, keeping the public safe.

$2,500 in restitution? Seems low.
How much overtime did he cook the books for 74 tickets? What was his over time rate?
Using an average of 2 tickets an hour is 37 hours of overtime. 37 hours of overtime at $73.52 get you close to $2,500.00
Not bad for a highway patrolman if that was his pay rate.
I think the real story with LSP will be when all the facts come out on the cat from Troop B who was making 240k a year via LACE.
Colonel Reeves has publicly stated it is against LSP protocol to be at your home at any point during a shift. I find that policy hard to believe considering the rural nature of their responsibilities.

Your original premise was to legislate a mandatory murder conviction rate and I'm saying the pressure to meet that standard would just lead to more corruption and false convictions. You're talking about creating a new problem not solving an old one.

Agreed. I was simply saying I’m not opposed to the police issuing citations if a crime is being committed.
But I agree with your point completely

you're thinking of the wrong story. the guy who did that was out in SELA. Daryl Thomas.
Posted on 7/8/18 at 3:26 pm to SlowFlowPro
Jimmy Rogers was doing the same. Falsifying dates and times to claim overtime.

Thomas and Sims are accused of filing false time sheets claiming hours they did not work, according to court documents, while Taylor and Rogers are accused of falsifying or altering times on traffic citations to make it appear they worked longer hours than they actually did.
they changed times. they worked the shifts.
that is not

changing times to make an illegal policy created by superiors, at their request, to make the program look better, isn't getting paid for time you didn't work. now Thomas, as the article states, got paid for shifts he didn't work
*ETA: from his post
quote:
A thorough and detailed investigation into EVERY Trooper in the entire state over the life of the LACE program will prove that I was far from the only offender. In fact, it is literally a common practice. A practice literally taught to me as a rookie Trooper. As a Trooper, you are taught to stop working an hour or two before shift! Every trooper worth his salt will tell you that they heard the phrase, "a good trooper is in his driveway by 3"! You better not break this rule and start making traffic stops after 3! If you did, you would be verbally reprimanded by your supervisors and your peers!
this is not a "Jimmy Rogers" issue. this a "law enforcement" issue. it's literally their fricking policies

My question on that front is if this was a 3 year investigation.
Barring that, he could have resigned because he didn’t want to do it anymore. His testimony is that he had a changed of heart due to his wife in his last year of employment.
IF that is true, it’s very different from someone slinging shite just because they were caught.

Crime? Speeding?
So, when. Cop chooses to not write a ticket for when the speeder is a cop, is he letting a criminal go free?
Very few tickets written are for safety reasons, the cops are motivated by the money generated.

They changed the times to look like they were working and claimed overtime...they did not work the hours they claimed.
This is nothing but Rogers trying to save face claiming everyone does this.....he got caught stealing and now trying to claim it’s the system

McIntosh county in Georgia is like that. They’re literally always on their little stretch of I-95 pulling people over in their F-150s.
