Ex-LSP officer unloads; explains how LEO tickets are a $-making operation

American Press
quote:
A former local state trooper who pleaded guilty in state district court this week to two felony counts of malfeasance in office took to Facebook on Friday and said he was indeed guilty of doing something that he said “hundreds, if not thousands of troopers” have also done.
Jimmy Allen Rogers, 35, resigned from Troop D in 2015 but was arrested in April as part of an investigation into the Louisiana State Police’s participation in the LACE program in July and August of 2015.
quote:
In his post, Rogers said, in part: “My hope is not that you will feel sorry for me, but that this would spark an outcry for justice, an outcry for a real investigation. That investigation would reveal that Jimmy Rogers is only one of hundreds, if not thousands of troopers who have done the same thing. The public is tired of dirty cops, dirty prosecutors, a dirty system and, specifically, a dirty state police office! Ladies and gentlemen, so am I!”
quote:
The post went on to say: “I am guilty. I am guilty of participating in what is, in my opinion, a gross violation of your constitutional rights. You are being taxed without your knowledge. The District Attorney’s office dangles a few dollars in front of police officers and in turn those officers write a required amount of tickets. John DeRosier and his office have made millions of dollars on the backs of hard working, innocent Americans. I never thought of overtime this way until I married my beautiful wife only a year ago. I’ve listened to her stories of struggle as a single mother. How one ticket could literally bury a person who struggles in poverty to feed their children. They are then forced to choose between paying a ticket or a light bill. Lose your lights or be buried under tickets that continue to pile up until you have no other recourse than to sit in jail or make payments for year. Why, you ask? For money!!!”

This will hopefully get some traction to all the redundant dumbass tickets being written out there

he did. he owned up to his crimes. i think he's the only LSP officer involved in scandal the past few years who has done so

Its like these tiny podunk districts along major interstates whose district covers a sliver of an interstate. And that’s where you find random speed traps just to keep their little departments afloat.

This should be common knowledge, but someone on this thread will defend these LEO and tell everyone not to break the law and you wont have any issues.

he even discusses how the locations of their stops were strategically planned (another assumption the OT has made for years)

I’m sure he’s right and his story is legit, but frick him dead in his crooked arse. Slimy fricker had no problem with it while he had a badge, now he wants to complain?
Dudes a crook and a count. He needs to get prison time for being a bitch, not just a dirty cop.

Isn’t this common knowledge at this point?

Like on I310 in St Charles Parish when and where thousands of people are going to and from work in the mornings and evenings?

He’s whining like a baby girl about how we should just go ahead and make everything legal.

Well then maybe don’t speed.

Is he saying tickets were written on bullshite grounds or just that the motivation was monetary? I mean, were the people breaking the law or not?

Question, were these tickets for real offenses?
If so then what's the issue?

I'm no fan of speed traps. Speeds should only be able to be decreased 10mph at a time with the accompanying "decrease speed ahead" sign. Also, we need to have equal enforcement under the law. It's not fair to be doing 75 in a 70 and not have a problem through one parish, then enter a small town and be given a ticket for the exact same speed.
All things being equal every time I've been given A speeding ticket, it's been my fault and I was in fact speeding
