Driverless cars, if they are ever allowed to be unleashed on the market, will devastate small-town municipal coffers.

He didn’t need to explain it. It was obvious what they were doing. That’s why they got caught.

IF that is true, it’s very different from someone slinging shite just because they were caught.
Ok, you’re right. He may have really had some change of heart. My opinions are based on this thread. I’ll reserve the same privilege to change my opinion that he now invokes.
But I still think he’s full of shite.

A recovering addict I was helping out just lost his $600 a week job because he got picked up for a seven year old open container attachment and couldn't get bond set for five days. System is screwed for poor people.
Damn, seven years and did not take care of the attached. And I suppose you’re blaming the police, LOL

Very few tickets written are for safety reasons, the cops are motivated by the money generated.
No shite. But everyone already knows this. LSP is no different than anyone else when it comes to revenue generation. So knowing that, you can either drive the speed limit and not get a ticket or take your chance and speed.
But if you are speeding and you get a ticket, tough shite. You did it. Pay your fine and don’t bitch about it. Don’t hate the cop for catching you.
But by the same token, I’m very skeptical of a “dirty” cop who suddenly has a crisis of conscientious and wants to tell all.
Especially after he’s already been caught.

Again this is someone caught with his hand in the cookie jar trying to claim he was just doing what everyone else was stealing cookies to.
They have conducted an audit and I believe his claims of widespread abuse are false.

And if you disagree with the writing tickets for overtime....fine.
I just don’t agree with this dude acting like he is exposing something or he was just doing what everyone else does. bullshite. He cheated and deserved to be prosecuted.

I have a friend who is a Georgia State Trooper. There isn’t a “quota” per say but if they don’t. Get enoug DUI’s, speeding tickets, and stops they are put on permanent night shift until they are able to get enough.
The biggie is DUI’s. It comes down from the judges to the attorneys to the politicians for eh troopers who mask concern for the citizenry when it’s all about attorneys and local govts getting paid.

Surely you can understand why speeding ticket quotas are a bad thing, no?
No, I have zero problem with quotas.

The District Attorney’s office dangles a few dollars in front of police officers and in turn those officers write a required amount of tickets.
Breaking: cops have quotas. Film at 10.

I got a ticket in my neighborhood a few months ago. Running a stop sign at a 3 way stop. I came to a 99% stop with no other vehicles around. I just didn't come to a rock back stop. $160 for complete bullshite.
It looks the same as me blowing through it at 30 mph with my insurance though
Which one of your neighbors did you get pissed at for calling in the extra patrol? Because no cop is going into a residential neighborhood and watching three-way stop signs like that without it bring requested by a resident.

4 guys across the state have already been indicted
if this goes federal, i expect that to go up 10x

Ok, Mr. Lawyer, how about jail time and no fines.
Feel better?

Yes, because the pool of offenses is so incredibly large, a quota system means didly poo in effect as a quota system.
Troopers are not making up offences just to fill a quota.
Example: a guy could sit on I-10 for an hour and have easily 500+ speeders go by. I have no problem with him being asked to pick up two or three or four of them.

that's actually a funny comment b/c i believe quotas are illegal for all LEO in LA...except LSP

you just displayed one pole of the problem. the problem with quotas is what happens when citizenry commits too few/many crimes?
if speeding is such a concern and 500 are speeding, then 2-4 tickets is terrible policing. that needs to be more like 300-400
or there is a problem if 0 people speed. then what?
