I dont eat packaged food, number one, and number two, what are you talking about? I wouldn't bring a half eaten dip or bag of chips or buns to a party. I know some of you fat fricks grab a handful of chips with your sausage fingers, lick your fingers, scratch your arse, and go back for another handful.

My general rule is that if I had to call someone to ask what they were wearing, the only "opened" thing I would bring would be a partially drank decent bottle of, say, scotch (or other aged/"special" liquor that's meant to be enjoyed on special occasion).
Yeah, there's probably no good reason to show up with a half drank $20 handle of Beam. Just leave that in the truck.

No, but I'd keep it at home. They're going away on a weekend. The buns and dip won't go bad if you keep it in the fridge (unless the dip is the same one that sat out at room temp all night at the party - in which case it should be disposed of). When you get home, make a sandwich with the buns if its that big a deal. There's just not really a point to bringing 3 buns on a trip unless someone has 3 weiners for you.
The liquor and beer is fine, but like I said I'd toss them into an ice chest and assume everyone is BYOB. I definitely wouldn't show up to someone's actual event with half a bottle of Malibu and hand it over to the host.

But virtually everyone said that the booze was ok.
I was stunned you even asked about the booze. Haha.

That would be about as cheap/trashy as taking the remainder of what you brought to the party back home with you when you left.

For example, is it ok to bring a couple half bottles of booze? That shite doesn't spoil.
Good...leave it at home for yourself and buy a new one for your host.

The host is in recovery, so that shite might be coming home with me regardless

A 'friend' did that when invited here for Thanksgiving. Even left the serving spoon in the hole in the casserole she'd taken to her office party.
It would not have killed her to take the spoon out, smooth out the casserole top and sprinkle fresh grated cheese and bread crumbs on top and ask for oven space.
She took the casserole home, untouched even after a pass around.
With potential covid problems, I wouldn't want anything that could have had an eating fork or spoon used to serve it.

I'd say yes on the booze and beer no on the food

A dip you opened the day before? A bag of buns with a couple already eaten? Is that bad form?
Yes it is. Booze is fine as long as it's not wine. The only exception with the food would be of it were a specialty item that isn't readily available and easily replaceable or it's just friends who don't give a frick. Since you said opened dip and buns no. But if you had made some crab dip or some shite that was worth sharing that might be different. If you're talking burger/hot dog buns you're going to look cheap and like you brought that shite just so it wouldn't spoil. Would you bring a 3/4 of a gallon of milk?

Chitown
I lived in three Cities up North, people would beg me to have another dinner with Gumbo and Fried La., or Ms., catfish.

Not to count, safe food handling is a big deal. I’m not hugging a toilet for 3 days because someone decided to leave a chicken casserole on the table for a 6 hour party, tossed it into the fridge with a half arse Saran Wrap job, and then microwaved it for another party the next day where it sat another 6 hours.

If White Russians are on the menu then absolutely

Ok to bring.

Not ok to me, but maybe I'm weird.
As someone else said, nobody will give a shite when you all have a hard buzz at 11:20 at night and need a snack.

All about context. For a couple buddies sharing a cabin for weekend I see no issue with that. If your going to a dinner party and bringing something, it can be kinda trashy.

Put that shite in a serving dish, smooth it over so it looks untouched, and call it homemade.

The liquor is fine and I guess the rest is too but I wouldn’t bring it. Whether or not anyone cared I’d feel low rent showing with can of half eaten dip. Just spend the $2 or $3 on a new can and leave the other can at home for later.
