Etiquette question...bringing "non-new" food and drink to a party

Headed out of town this weekend to a friend's cabin in Wisconsin, and thinking about what to take up. I have a bunch of food and booze around here that's perfectly fresh and fine, but wondering what tOT says about bringing stuff to a party or weekend getaway with other people that's not completely new and unopened.
For example, is it ok to bring a couple half bottles of booze? That shite doesn't spoil. What about a grab bag of different beers? A dip you opened the day before? A bag of buns with a couple already eaten? Is that bad form? My ex used to be a hard "absolutely not" on that because I think she thought it looked trashy.
What say you OT?

Are you going up with a bunch of guys or some high maintenance folk who would give a shite about something so small?

Dude nobody is going to give a shite how old the food is once you’re all vacation drunk

The trick is to not let anyone see that it's already open. Put the dip on the table and immediately start eating chips and dip. Nobody will think anything of it.

Yes.

Absolutely. Assuming they aren't opened beers. That would be weird.

Sure.

As long as there is enough for the weekend, go for it.

How's Pammy Cakes?

I wouldn't see an issue with bringing an opened case of beer. Some dip that's been opened already? kind of trashy. If it were my college buddies I wouldn't hesitate to bring opened food. None of us give a damn. Folks I don't know well I'd only bring new.

Opened booze is fine.
Food is iffy. If it's a group of close friends, probably not a big deal. I wouldn't eat something brought by an acquaintance if I noticed it had been partly eaten, though.

3 couples (M/F), not a lot of high maintenance people...just your standard cabin on your standard Wisconsin lake.

Yep, would totally depend on who you are going with.

It absolutely does. A bag of buns or chips is like a dollar and nobody wants to eat your opened food that you've had for God knows how long and have finger fricked.

I probably wouldn't bring the dip you opened previously. I would do all the rest though with no shame.

That reminds me of a story from years ago...two buddies and I went to a friend's party and we brought a bottle of booze. We were very obvious about making sure everyone saw it when we walked in so we weren't showing up empty handed. We then immediately poured 3 drinks for ourselves that used the entire bottle.

weekend to a friend's cabin
It's your friend. You should know him/her better than us. Weekend getaway or weekend drinkathon at the house? Should be fine.
Weekend getaway that's an engagement shower or other semi-formal type event? Probably not fine.
My general rule is that if I had to call someone to ask what they were wearing, the only "opened" thing I would bring would be a partially drank decent bottle of, say, scotch (or other aged/"special" liquor that's meant to be enjoyed on special occasion).

booze is fine...food is gross

Depends on the crowd and age.
But alcohol wise, bring it. And if you don't want to keep it, leave it. The next time someone goes, they might thank you for the free booze.

She's my +1 this weekend. So we're all good. We had "the talk" this last weekend so it's official
FBD pics of the scene and hopefully Cakes bikini coming as early as tomorrow.

How cheap are you? Jesus, make a $50 Walmart run. Really Expensive booze is the only thing that you should bring opened.
Posted on 7/2/20 at 10:21 am to Chucktown_Badger
Fine for the poors. Just kidding, bring open booze, but not open food.

I think unopened alcohol is fine. I wouldn’t bring “non-new” food if you are planning on others eating it.
