The blame for this was laid on customers flocking to SUVs and larger vehicles in increasing numbers and shunning the most efficient models offered by each carmaker.
How dare they!

Have POC™ given permission for this yet?

Awe man that brings back memories. My grandparents had an 1987 Travel Quest that was navy and silver. Had the real wood trim out interior. Bought it to tow their travel trailer. Pretty sure it could’ve towed 3.
Lots of fun times riding in that car as a kid.

There’s that all inclusive liberal ideology. If it’s not what I think it’s dumb
That seems to be the case on both sides of the aisle. Not exclusive to liberals at all.

There's no other way to average 52 mpg with combustion engines within that time frame.
I think that’s the whole point of this bullshite.
If they make the CAFE standards too high to achieve, they’ll say, “See, the ICE is obsolete! We have to do something else!” Muh crisis.
However I’m not sure they’ve thought this through completely.
Once the ICE is gone, about half the reason for having the EPA will no longer exist. What are those employees going to do? Oh that’s right, most of them do nothing to begin with.
If conservatives (note I did not say GOP) were smart, they’d start demanding some impossibly high standards for EVs to meet. Why not? That’s what the Dims are doing to the ICE.

I am not necessarily in favor of this, but it's also how you get innovation that will push the boundaries. As long as we still enjoy a free market, manufacturers are going to build what the people want.
Duuuude. This is exactly not a free market. Free market drives innovation and progress not government intervention.
"As long as we enjoy a free market" but "it's also how you get innovation" is 100% false.
This is exactly not a free market. Government regulation is exactly what makes a market not free.
gahhhhhh

Misleading title. Congratulations on the clicks

Check out the Autostop Eliminator to relieve you of having to turn the autostop feature off every start up. It is absolutely the best thing I've added to my Jeep.

Given the trajectory and increased use of electric and hybrids that goal is possible and you still drive your F150 and Ram 1500 like an idiot.
It's pretty impressive to see just how shitty your takes are on every subject

frick THIS
This is how you get shitty fricking cars that only hippies like to drive. Get the government out of the way and let the market decide. If everyone wants to drive a Tesla, let the demand dictate it. If everyone wants to drive a a got damned muscle car that gets 2 gallons to the mile, let the market dictate it.
frick this government overreach.
You know, I'm totally on board w the government overreach aspect but we all know they're capable of a better MPG if they wanted to. I'm all in favor of getting the Engineers to stop jacking us around as consumers.

My car automatically stops its engine when I am at a stoplight or stop sign. It all adds up.
I will never own a vehicle with this feature.

I suspect the bean counters and lawyers play a large role in the state of car design...

The problem is people want MPG but don't want to give up their power. They also don't want to pay more.

I hope you never plan on purchasing a new car. Most will have it in the next few years if not already. Just find a way to permanently disable it.

You guys are ridiculous. Bitch about gas prices everyday but don't want a car/truck that gets 52mpg. Can't win.

Anyone who voted for Biden instead of Trump is an idiot who should be ignored.

This will change nothing. Government is why gas prices are higher, and government will get theirs either way. Just wait for the mileage taxes.
