A fraction of the people being killed everyday from human error, especially drinking and driving, and texting and driving.

when the technology gets there, it might be better than human drivers.

I drive to plaquemine every day for work and back home. No specific numbers as to how many cars are on the road but 95% of the people I pass are on there phone zoned out.

If you say so. I said it could be.

It pulls out of its parking spot and literally comes and picks you up where you are. It's a feature that comes with the car.

I wonder how many more people are going to get killed with this half-baked technology? Musk is real big on hyping germs of ideas as finished products. Industry experts estimate 10-15 years before fully autonomous vehicles are perfected to the extent that they are ready for public use.

Two have died so far in autonomous Tesla vehicles. A person would have to be nuts to let one of these things drive them around at this time.

Dear god this is dumb logic.

You just made this up, unless you've got a link.

LINK

quote:

After a fatal Autopilot-related crash in May, a company blog post pointed out that the crash was “the first known fatality in just over 130 million miles where Autopilot was activated.” The post then noted that “Among all vehicles, in the US, there is a fatality every 94 million miles.”

The clear implication: driving with Autopilot activated is 38 percent safer than non-Autopilot driving.

Google "Tesla autopilot deaths per mile" and there is a plethora of other links that corroborate. It's not just that one.

Could be a bitch to find where your car decided to park itself, huh?

Can't be any worse than a woman trying to remember where she parked her car.

Two people in millions of miles driven and they were using the car like a fully autonomous vehicle, which it is not yet. This technology is a million times safer than you are driving.

This is jetson's level stuff. When I was a kid in the 80s I couldn't even comprehend that it would be something I'd ever see.

The guy is a damn genius and visionary.

ETA: this technology is going to save 10s of 1,000s of lives.

Most accidents are caused by distracted or other dangerous driving. The technology reduces and/or eliminates that.

Well said. Driving is one of my favorite activities, but I would welcome the advent of this technology. I think most people would, if they're honest with themselves.

That motorcycle rider about 2 minutes in got to where he was going much faster than the auto driver car did.

shite yes. I think of all the times driving home late on a sunday, driving back tired, hungover...to be able to just sit back and sleep and wake up when I'm home. Glorious.
