Unfortunately just as you mentioned that a black man having a Mercedes through hard work and education it is a whole lot easier for these same kids to see that drug dealer driving that same Mercedes by dropping out of school and selling drugs. Not enough positive roll models for young black kids living in the hoods around America.

How do I go about getting one of these cards?
Posted on 7/8/17 at 8:13 am to liz18lsu
Of course, purchases made with EBT cards do not pay sales tax. In fact, nobody pays sales in Louisiana on most items at grocery stores.

I'm pretty sure I just paid sales tax at Winn Dixie just now for groceries. It was all food items.

That's odd. You shouldn't be paying state sales tax on food items.
Posted on 7/8/17 at 8:34 am to liz18lsu
no one in louisiana pays sales tax on most grocery items...wtf

Maybe it was the two liters of cokes? I wish I saved my receipt.

Good. Why we would retax tax revenue?

My friend owns a convience store. Prepared foods you can use an EBT. (Hotdogs, notucheeze, donuffins) Ice cups, soft purple dranks, potatoe chips, and candy.
He says they magically find money for liquor which on a Sat or Sunday they come back 3 to 5 times to buy beer and cigars.
Funny that adds up quick and he was thinking maybe if they spent their money wisely they would not needz guberment assistanz.
Gotta maintain that lifestyle doe.

Wait. You really think every non profit in this country is exempt from paying sales taxes when they purchase goods and services for their organization?

Thought that was interesting. Sales tax, unlike income tax, treats every consumer fairly. Unless you are using government assistance, apparently.
That's the poors getting on they hustle, tryna make a dollar outta fiteen cent

EBT could only be used to buy rice, beans, discount meat, fruit, vegetables, and a handful of other healthy food you need to survive on no one would have an issue with it.
As of now they just go buy 200 cans of corn with EBT, then go to the return line at the Walmart and return all the cans of corn and get the money back in cash

My nephew's baby momma was on food stamps.. single mom with a toddler and a baby. Daddy (my wife's brother) runt off. She got occassional child support when it was garnished from daddy's wages.
She moved back in with her mom and a sister (in similar situation) and got a job at one of the house cleaning services with flexible hours while mom or sister watched the kids. Then she met a good man, got married, got off food stamps.
For many people, they rely on this benefit as temporary help, the way it was designed. In most cases it really does help the children.
If you look at the federal budget, federal food stamp benefits are tiny fraction of a percent of money spent, but has arguable the biggest impact on actually helping people.
It's also so easy to demagogue by the left.
I don't know why repub/conservatives continue even bringing up the issue.

Bc every single time we're at the grocery, we see EBT abused.

Make sense I guess, if you can't afford to buy your own groceries, might as well not saddle you with more debt you can't pay

You should shop at Publix where you don't have to be around such human filth.
