Same thing happened to our neighborhood. Republic didn't pass on Monday like they were supposed to so everyone left their cans by the road only to wake up the next morning to trash scattered all over the neighborhood and some of it inevitably entering the drainage system. Great job, guys.

Every once in awhile, my wife and I like to test our luck on a Thursday to see if we can accomplish the miracle of the holy trinity where we get Recycle, garbage, and trash all picked up on their scheduled service day. It's happened once.

Why would this be Republic's fault? I know they may suck generally, but if this work is not in their contract with EBRP, why would it be on them to do this work for free?

I don't know the ins/outs of their contract, just painting with a big brush. It's not like Republic probably doesn't owe the city-parish a few days (I know there have been times they've completely skipped our street).

I've been in my current neighborhood for almost three years and I don't believe it has happened yet. Sometimes we go weeks in between recycle pickups. Its at the point now that I just bring our recycling to the bin by my office.

OK then... I'm going to load my shite on a trailer and leave it on Chauna Banks or SWB's front lawn.

Look at the areas that flooded. Should be quite clear what’s going on.

Probably because of racism. I heard they dont pick up trash in black areas because of racism.

It’s mostly St, George that flooded. Let them pick up their own trash. We need their money elsewhere.

Signed

Just calculate what it costs you and deduct it from your property tax bill.

Keep receipts.

You’re fricking right I’d rather Ascension over EBR. Anyone who says otherwise is lying to you and themselves.

This is why I wouldn’t live somewhere where I can’t burn my trash.

As I see it, the blame lies entirely with the City-Parish for not triggering the emergency contract.

This.

Republic isn’t at fault here. They’d gladly do trash service for everything. But the City-Parish wants to pay lower rates per ton given the amount of debris. That’s why they trigger the emergency contract.

But the emergency contractor is lazy & slow. Why? Because they were the low bidder, they want to work as cheaply (slowly) as possible with a few people as possible to preserve their profit margins.

Remember last year’s hurricane? The emergency trash contractor had a grand total of eight trucks for the ENTIRE PARISH. How do I know? I called Mr Speer &
Co. and they admitted as such.

This parish is so screwed up. The city should force the contractor to work harder (i.e. incentive money). But they’re broke because Mayor Broome spent all the money on racial equity studies.

ETA: Watch them use an inadequate number of trucks AND they won’t work weekends (that’s overtime pay). Trust me on this.
