This is absolutely the most ridiculous message that has come from the City Parish. The City Parish should be collecting debris put at the curb. I really feel for those that flooded. The City Parish contributed to certain areas flooding by their lack of basic maintenance of the canals. Help these people out.

SENT ON BEHALF OF COUNCILWOMAN DENISE AMOROSO:

Re: Flood Debris Pickup from May 18th Flood

Our office has received notification from the Department of Environmental Services that they are assessing the amount of flood debris in order to make a decision on whether the City-Parish will be activating their Emergency Contract. At this time Republic Services will not be picking up any piles that have been put out.

They will be closing all Service Requests for storm debris.

At this time, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to remove this debris, especially if they have insurance to cover their repairs.

We will receive an update once they have more data and direction.

That decision will be reversed.

Also, I couldn’t imagine living in the shithole city and parish that EBR is.

Can't blame Republic. That's not what they're contracted to do.

Hopefully City-Parish will pay for contract pickups.

They should take their flood debris and drop it off at the governor’s mansion and Mayor’s office or her house.

Simple, burn it where it lays. CP gov't is trying to get some feral dollars/grant money to have it picked up. I think they did that for the last Ice Storm.

Think a bigger cause is over development, not lack of maintenance

Not surprised. I can't even get them to pick up the normal trash can on the assigned day.

Almost caused an issue on my street earlier this week, when all of the cans that should have been emptied were instead full, blown over and clogged the drains.

Those who flooded, feel free to contact these fine fellows to express how you feel on their foot-dragging of this, or maybe find their home addresses and see how quickly the shite gets cleaned when it's piled in their yards.

That sucks but I will say, Louisiana is the only state I’ve ever lived in that the garbage men will pick up just about anything from your curb.

Everywhere else I’ve lived, you had to deal with non-standard type trash on your own.

Why would this be Republic's fault? I know they may suck generally, but if this work is not in their contract with EBRP, why would it be on them to do this work for free?

As I see it, the blame lies entirely with the City-Parish for not triggering the emergency contract.
