Isn’t there some type of training facility by Kennilworth and Perkins?

I rode my hybrid in that thing once. ONCE. shite is hard. And not fun.

So there is a place to train? is that for a different cycling discipline?

The BREC park on Perkins at Kenilworth has a BMX course and a velodrome.

I’m trying. It’s starting to grow on me. I’d rather have a place on Grand Isle but BSL/Waveland/Pass is closet and less expensive
My family would prefer Florida but they are beach people and only I fish

I see the fat-arse redneck highway anarchists are still screaming "GTFO of my way" and making themselves look like horse's asses.
Move to Mexico if you want complete chaos on the roads.
Share the road, mofos. Your mommy and daddy should've whipped you more. I'd sure slap the shite out of you.

Your mentality is the reason why bikers get run over

It's the velodrome. Any bikes can use it for free anytime the park is open.

Yeah that's my velodrome. I spend ten hours a week in that thing, going around in circles, one after the other after the other, slipping deeper into madness. People watch me and think "man I wish I could ride in circles like that super-cool guy". Someday I hope to have a conversation with a woman.

I knew there would be some knuckle checking in this thread.

Gotta love the OT. Only message board I know where a cyclist who was obeying the law, gets killed and it’s somehow his fault.

Well with the attitude you display through your postings, you talk down to us as though you're an outsider criticizing Louisiana. Dude, you're one of us. Just because you moved an hour East doesn't mean you're all of a sudden some blue blood who would never have anything to do with Louisiana, nor does it mean you're suddenly not from here. Your little stance is incredibly cheesy and it makes you a big fat hypocrite. And let's face it, you live in Biloxi. It's not like you live somewhere vast and far away from life in Louisiana. You live in a sleazy two bit casino town. And one that readily associates itself with New Orleans (being that it's so close). A wannabe beach community with terrible beaches. A has been. How dare you sit there and talk down to us about quality of life...
It's like we're getting lectured about what it's like to live in a nice house from somebody who lives in a fricking trailer park.
Oh, and by the way, I made my move away to Colorado for a few years about 20 years ago, bub. I know what life is like outside of this state. I was in a situation where I had to move back (family obligations). I know very well (much more than you do in redneckville) what a great city with much more advanced people is like. Let THAT sink in. But even with that being said, I never try to front myself off as an outsider. I always considered myself somebody from Louisiana. Even when living in CO.

Riding a bicycle on any public road with fricking trucks, SUVs, 18-wheelers, all with frickers not paying attention, driving too fast, on their phones/tablets and just not expecting to see a grown person riding a child's toy out there there seems very dangerous.

The velodrome. It's a different kind of racing.

I don't think it was his fault. But I do believe placing two vehicles with widely different speed characteristics on the same narrow road and expecting them to operate safely is naive and a flawed philosophy. Whether the driver is paying attention or not, the situation is dangerous
Mopeds and Bicycles aren't allowed on interstates because of those inherrent dangers despite the lanes being wider than the highways where cyclists have been injured. I would argue it would be safer to allow cyclists on the interstate service lanes than riding on a 55MPH highway with no shoulder.
