I can eat corn, potatoes, carrots.. but that's about it. I hope I can get by with just eating them.

Keeping out and active is just as big a part of it.
Drink a lot of smoothie king, as meal replacements 1-2 times a week also.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. You gotta make a list of healthy choices to get out. Buy healthy snacks and keep them with you. Cut out sugar. Do that alone and you'll be ok.

Nothing wrong with eat steak or any unprocessed food with any unprocessed veggie or starch like potatoes and sweet potatoes is fine but if you want to get really healthy, read whole 30 and follow it for a month.

Depends on what you get at SK. Gladiator with peanut butter and banana is a good meal replacement. Pretty much anything else they offer is sugar-laden and should be avoided.

I spend Sunday cooking my meals for the week. Split them up into microwavable containers and take them to work. It's normally a combo of chicken, cauliflower, and green beans.

Stop being a loser, problem solved.

Absolutely, just being outside, working on the yard, walking, and generally not being lazy is good for you. On top of that, add a little cardio a few times a week and you'll live a long life...

If you are super busy but don't mind leftovers another maybe healthy route is to get catering. Go to some place like Whole Foods and just get a week or two of food and boom you are done. Get some tupperware, throw some meals together, and toss them in the freezer. It isn't that expensive if you are getting the catering stuff, especially if you consider how much time you are saving.

No, you can't get by just eating those. Corn and potatoes aren't particularly good for you. They are carbs and not much else. Carrots are much better but there's so much else. You can't eat yellow squash or zucchini? There's a million ways to make Cauliflower that'd be palatable for even the most voracious meat eater. Fresh wilted Spinach? Eggplant? Roasted Portobello Mushroom? Caprese Salad?
Seems like the problem isn't that it's hard, you just have your mind made up and you're missing out, big time...

I accepted that I can't fully do it. So I just work on portion control and get a good workout 4-5 times a week. Finding time to go to the gym is also hard when you work full time and have a young child.

You really can eat a large variety of foods and still lose weight, as long as you eat at a calorie deficit. You have to train your body to not have to snack or eat large meals.
To lose weight and be healthy, though, stick to nutrient dense foods like meat, beans, veggies, nuts, dairy and whole grains.
Stay away from processed food, fried food and anything with added sugar.
Also, Halo Top Ice Cream is on sale at Whole Foods right now. 140 calories in a 1/2 pint and it's delicious.

If you must eat out, eat Subway. It's a hell of a lot healthier than McDonalds, Burger King et al

If you have kids and a job, it will be a struggle until they leave the nest. Just the way it is.
