It was both. The OP in that thread’s experience was from the high school. Others with kids at Dutchtown middle chimed in saying their kids had said something similar.

I have kids in STA Primary, Middle, and High schools and went though each of those schools during P/T conferences and saw nothing of the sorts or anything remotely political. That’s the way it should be for all schools.

Of course, St Amant is very different than DTown culturally even though both are in AP

you sure about that?

According to the source cited in the email, yes.

I haven’t read the article so I’m not sure how the ACT was weighted in their determination.

Did they use the 2020-2021 scores referenced in your post?

Regardless, it’s a great school and in the very least is among the best of the non-magnet schools in the state.

OK, but from data perspective, the results produced by Dutchtown aren’t even close to the results produced by the Baton Rouge private schools and BRHS.

Well we’re waiting….

I’m pretty sure the private schools don’t take the same assessments.

Regardless of the dick measuring going on in here, Dutchtown High is an outstanding public school.

I have two recent graduates here. They are on the scholarships at LSU(junior) and La Tech(freshman).

21 avg ACT score is a good school. Only in Louisiana. Isn’t DTown the school with the tranny on the homecoming court last year ? 21 act avg and tranny on the court. I’ll pass for my kids.

Dutchtown has a middle class to upper middle class population. Lots of professional’s and plant worker’s kids. It’s the parents that make a good school not amazing teachers. The same holds for the Catholic schools in the area. It’s the population of students.

Transitioning my kid from the Dutchtown school system to a top rated school in another state showed there’s still a BIG gap between programs. Dutchtown was great, but she’s about a year behind now.

Louisiana School for Math Science and the Arts Natchitoches, LA #8 in Louisiana Rankings #855 in National Rankings Graduation Rate > 95% College Readiness 30.9 Enrollment 9-12 316

I used to work at the boys dorm at LSMSA and the kids that went there in the 90’s were often outcasts trying to escape the small towns they came from. I can see them lacking readiness when it came to social situations, maybe not academics.

This was a list of public schools in Louisiana.

Dutchtown was just ranked the 11th prettiest of all the ugly girls in the state. Not really anything to brag about

Another post in this thread commented that Dutchtown’s ranking qualified the school as being in the top 7% nationally.

Not an ugly girl and certainly worthy of a brag.

What a moronic take.

You can receive an excellent education at Dutchtown, provided that you are taking AP, Dual Enrollment, and honors / gifted.

On level = okay.

SWE / SPED = Probably not very good.

As for just using data points, as noted, EVERYONE tests at public schools.

If you are comparing apples to apples, the students in gifted / honors are more than comparable to most private schools.

A blanket statement disparaging the value of an education at Dutchtown is, as noted, moronic.

It would be like stating that LSU’s engineering school sucks because of the students enrolled in journalism.

Dutchtown has good scores DESPITE the accomplishments of the top performing students being mitigated by the rest of the student body.
