Just received the email:

quote:

Hello Griffin Parents,

I am happy to share with our community that Dutchtown High has once again been recognized as a Top High School in the United States by U.S. News and World Report!

DTHS was ranked as the #1 High School in Ascension Parish and the #11 High School in the state of Louisiana.  The ten Louisiana schools ranked higher than the Griffins all have some type of selective admissions process (such as magnet schools), meaning DTHS is the #1 open enrollment school in the state.   We were also ranked in the top 7% of High Schools nationally!

We know this success is due to the hard work of everyone involved at Dutchtown High.  Congratulations to our students for their strong work ethic, perseverance, and for achieving at high levels.  A HUGE THANKS goes out to our teachers, staff, and administrators for their dedication to EVERY GRIFFIN.  Thank you to all parents/guardians who make education a priority in the lives of your children.  It is our strong partnership that creates opportunities for students to pursue the postsecondary dreams of their choice.

We consider it a privilege to serve this wonderful community!

Thanks,

Dr. Matthew Monceaux

You took the good students out of Baton Rouge schools and put them all in Dutchtown and it made Baton Rouge schools bad and Dutchtown schools good.
It's not the schools, it is the students.
I would wager that if you put all the Dutchtown students in Baton Rouge schools and all the Baton Rouge students in Dutchtown schools that the Baton Rouge schools would be better than the Dutchtown schools.

Private Schools are in a league of their own and are on a separate list.

They don't want to display the private school stats with public enrollment. that wouldn't be equitable

I went to an inner city school for 2 years and a suburban school for 2 years. It’s amazing how much easier it is to learn when your teachers are not having to spend 75% of the period attempting to get the class under control. Yes, the students matter, but you can’t dismiss the importance of having an environment actually conducive to learning.

And D Town has a 5 times more students than those schools.

Whos the better hitter a .400 hitter with 50 at bats or a .400 hitter with 350 at bats
