They are a product of their environment. They draw from a good area of families that are actually invested in the school that’s funded by local govt. it’s how good public schools function in other small cities

Isn’t that the school someone complained was asking students to declare their pronouns? Same school that asked if kids had alternate names that parents might not use?

Actually there was a rumor saying that occurred at Doyle High School in the town of Livingston. A somewhat related event actually happened at South Doyle High School in Knoxville, Tennessee in 2021.

Correct, but top 7% nationally sure is impressive

I would encourage everyone whose kids attend a top ranking public school in Louisiana to do the following: keep it to yourself. There is good reason why.

Best High Schools Methodology
College Readiness 30%
The proportions of 12th graders who took and earned a qualifying score on at least one AP or IB exam. Earning a qualifying score is worth three times more than just taking.
State Assessment Proficiency 20%
Aggregated scores on state assessments that students may be required to pass for graduation.
State Assessment Performance 20%
How aggregated scores on state assessments compare with U.S. News' expectations given the proportions of students who are Black, Hispanic and from low-income households.
Underserved Student Performance 10%
Scores on state assessments aggregated just among students who are Black, Hispanic and from low-income households. These scores are compared with what is typical in the state for non-undeserved students, with parity or higher being the goal.
College Curriculum Breadth 10%
The proportions of 12th graders who took and earned a qualifying score on AP and IB exams in multiple areas. More exams are valued more than fewer exams up to a maximum of four. Earning a qualifying score on an exam is worth three times more than taking.
Graduation Rate 10%
The proportion of entering ninth graders who graduated four academic years later.

Avg ACT Score 21.3
Most systems require all students to take the ACT. Most of us had it as an option in HS, so it was mostly college bound kids. Now, even the gangbangers have to show up and take a 1. It is all tied to SPS and funding.
Same thing in BR with AP and dual enrollment. My wife has a class full of kids with sub-1.5 GPAs who are taking AP Government and Politics.

OK, but from data perspective, the results produced by Dutchtown aren’t even close to the results produced by the Baton Rouge private schools and BRHS.
But yes, you can receive a moderate education at Dutchtown.

I've been saying for years that Livingston Parish has been fudging the numbers.
When exactly did Ascension Parish zoom past Livingston for quality schools.
When Prairieville HS comes into existence, AP's least desirable (EA) of it's four schools will still rank 20 places higher than Denham Springs HS.

In the 80s and 90s Ascension was ahead of Livingston. So some time befor then.

I don’t know about DTown but I have kids in St Amant High and my sister’s kids are at Mandeville High. I can say with certainty that, imho, St Amant High is a better school than Mandeville High

Then you’re viewing it through alligator tented glasses.
Eta
St. Amant is a fine school and you can get a great education there, it is simply, objectively not as good as Mandeville high.

Except the state rankings rate St Amant higher and my personal experience align with those rankings. The word you are looking for is subjectively since there is data showing St Amant if objectively better than Mandeville High.
Also, I’m not saying Mandeville is a bad school either. However, St Tammany school system is behind the Ascension school system in almost every measurement.

Well I’ll be a monkey’s uncle! Didn’t realize St. Amant had gotten that high and Mandeville had gotten that low in the latest rankings.

No. There was a poster on here that reported it right around the first week of school. Several others confirmed their kids had come home saying the same things from the same school and it was definitely Dutchtown HS.
