In a Catholic Church, this would be invalid. The vows aren't just a cute thing people say but essential for the validity of the sacrament.
They’re getting married outside, it’s not a Catholic wedding

Better say the magic words or it doesn’t count! No one gives a frick

Yes. Because the words are connected with meaning, just like I assume you want the words in your post to be connected with meaning.

JFC, and I thought I was overreacting about the lack of concubines.

The whole thing was like a total joke, groomsmen throwing out mini bottles fireball walking down the aisle with Lil Jon playing, the reverend or whatever doing a standup comedy bit…
That’s the people you’re friends with being trashy, not the fault of the venue

This chick wears white, I doubt some 35 year old ish chick getting married at an outdoor ceremony is a virgin, no need to wear white and pretend to be “pure”

Good thing there are lots of words to choose from and most of them have meaning

You're taking this way too seriously... especially for some folks that you don't know at all

I mean…if you’re part of a faith tradition (or any tradition for that matter) that has a precise definition of marriage, then it would make sense for the vows to have an equal level of precision.
Not sure it matters since as others have put it, they’re probably not Catholic, and I’m not either. Just pointing out that there’s a practical reason for having specific vows for some people.

Yeah, but once you decide that people can say whatever they want, you have no way of determining if they have meaning. Which is pretty damn important for a social contract.
Civil marriage has jumped the shark, and you can't convince me otherwise.

This is genuinely inane.

The Catholic Church jumped the shark fricking centuries ago.

That's a silly thing to say. Jesus did most of his teachings outdoors including the Sermon on the Mount.

Why even go through all the pomp and circumstance if it doesn’t have any meaning, or it’s just equivalent to signing some business contract? Which is how most modern secularists view marriage.
Secularists always want the aesthetics of something Christian without any of the meaning behind it. And it always devolves into nothing but a big joke.
Guarantee this woman is going to make life hell for this guy within 5 years at least.

If she wanted to change the vows to not include “for richer or for poorer” that would have been a simple thing to do, understandable even.
Making a joke about the vow, while making said vow, is a major red flag.
If you turn to the audience say something like ‘please keep the red dot steady, it’s distracting’ well that’s not a joke about the vows directly.
This has to raise the question if the vows are legally binding, or even matter at all in the event of divorce proceedings.
