I started 531 because I felt I progressed pass 5x5. I am on Week 4 and I chose Option 2, the 20 rep one.
I Chose Poorly. Have you found the Option 2 works better than the 5x5 Week 4 option?

I have no idea what you mean by option 2. I still run standard 5.3.1 and do BBB template on bench only

I use the 531 app. That's where I got it from. Must not be part of the program. Oh well.

Which app? Are you doing the Jim wendler 5.3.1 program? It's possible it may be some later iteration or template but I am not familiar with it.

5/3/1 Workout. It uses Jim Wendler's plan.

I'm not familiar with a 20 rep plan. It may be one of the templates from his Beyond 531 book. Not sure.

My sister in law does that crossfit shite and now she is fat and bulky. She literally gained weight because all she does is extreme weight lifting.

She literally gained weight because she eats too much.

I run 5/3/1 and Olympic Lifting cycles, coupled with CrossFit. I'll lift every morning (M-F) and Cf 3 days in the afternoon.

For people that are too old or just don't play sports anymore it's a great way to stay fit and be a little competitive either against yourself or other people. It's not the sport of exercising for the majority that don't compete to make it to the CrossFit Games, some people would rather just stay healthy, but have the extrinsic motivation of trying to beat other people for time or your own previous times.

It's really sad how the OT has nothing but unbridled/uneducated hate for CF, but I honestly wouldn't have expected anything less.

Btw if you look at the half of the "Crossfit" gifs y'all have posted, there mostly people doing stupid shite from other areas of the exercise world. Crossfit gyms do not have TRX bands btw. Guaranteed the old lady is hilarious, but she's squatting in a dedicated powerlifting rack with hooks and everything, but that's crossfit because she looks ridiculous.

You also have to watch what box you join as some coaches are f'n stupid and will have you Olympic lifting and doing highly technical movements within a week. You don't want that, that's how you get hurt. You also want to temper your big head by giving yourself time to get better at the basics, because often times coaches are not going to tell you, "No, you shouldn't do that". It's partly your responsibility.

Get it together guys, that is all.

I've tried it and it'll get you ripped, but move at your own pace. The place I went to had me doing Olympic style lifting the first day (even though I never tried them before) and it fricked up my wrist bad.

Also, it's expensive as shite.

Are now.

I'm in my deload week(week 4)

I've never done a program like this. I remember lifting in the past and having muscles blasted to the point where the next day I'd be miserable. This really is a good program. I like the deep tissue fatigue, and the soreness associated with it. It's not debilitating.

I have more energy, even though I'm sapped. Legs on Monday is also my new favorite thing about life.

On the one with the guy trying to lift a bunch of weight with his forearms, there's a Crossfit sign in the background.
