Personally, I cannot stand when people text things starting with "R U",

Equally frustrating words

fixin
2 (for to, or too)

is this an ebonic thing or just a twitter short form thing? I always assumed it was more due to limited characters to type with and going for speed over quality.

Hell no. But I think "fixin" is a whole different argument. I think that is a South LA usage question more than a shorthand typing thing.

Since the release of Blackberry there is no real need for text shorthand. I understood with the old phones with number keys only but now it's laziness
