There's a reason for that.

this will likely be another thought of mine that is eventually proven to be correct.
And there it is.

If you think about all the multi-million dollar houses designed by world famous architects that are being destroyed, and then consider all the original artwork likely contained in some of these homes, I wonder if there's ever been anything like this before in American history. Perhaps even in world history.
We’ll be OK on architectural and artistic stock.

Nah. Hard Rock NO with the real genuine legs hanging out.
Someone should apply for a historic marker for 'the real things'.

Sometimes it’s hard for me to believe that even actually happened. A supposed modern American city had human legs dangling out of a crushed building, sometimes in broad daylight, for months.

Those steps in that yard look annoying AF to walk up

Have an upvote. MCM and Art Deco for the win.
Honestly, I’ve been wanting to visit LA, Pasadena, etc for a while now. I did visit Santa Monica and the pier a few years back, but haven’t done much in LA since I was a kid in Disneyland. I need to see games in Anaheim and Dodger Stadium, have some film sites I want to see, etc. I’ll need to do that on my OT poor budget.
Anyway, what you mentioned is just one of the many reasons I hope this thing gets contained.

Library of Alexandria checking in for worst in human history. WW2 was probably the most for physical art, but the lighthouse was the largest loss of human knowledge.
The most impactful in human history, we simply don't know how advanced the ancients truly were, or how it may have accelerated human development in all scientific and humanities disciplines.

In US history? I am not sure those qualify as being in the US. And, I am not sure there has been anything worse than what is going on now.

Significant orignal artwork I'd reckon this will be the worst we've seen. Hope I'm wrong.
I'm sure there are pictures of them. It'll be ok. Just hoping for little loss of life. Other shite is just stuff.

Absolute destruction and burning of Baghdad by the Mongols
The burning of the library of Alexandria
Likely the 2 biggest losses of human knowledge and art that has ever happened

Some of those MCM houses that are being destroyed are priceless and worth far more than the $$$ that will be assigned to them.
Oh don't you worry your little heart. Those commies will get theirs.

Financial loss and utility aside, I don’t get the idea of assigning massive value to inanimate structures. “Architectural tragedy” just doesn’t resonate with me. I’d rather the pyramids and 1500 year old Italian duomos stay in tact but houses in Malibu?

Not turning this into a pissing match, but many have no idea how destructive WW2 actually was, not even including Dresden or Hiroshima
I worked with some real A-Hole Germans a couple of decades ago. They would go on and on about how great Germany was and how much better it was than the US. I told them that I had a friend who visited Germany and how impressed he was with all of the modern architecture in Dresden. It seemed like everything was so much newer than the other places he visited in Europe.
