I did after Katrina but I don't hear many others running. Just one other on my block.
I don't want to tick off neighbors with a constant lawnmower sound. I also like my fans and Netflix being on too.

What say the OT?

It’s your generator for your comfort. Do what you want with it.

Just don’t kill your family with carbon monoxide poisoning.

Most people nowadays have generators that run quiet. You must have one of those old boys

After Laura, I ran my generator day and night, 24 hours a day for a month. 640 hours we were without electricity.

Every few days, we’d shut everything down and take a day away from the house to give it a break.

Since you like to tinker. Get a plate to bolt a secondary silencer to the exhaust. A car exhaust works pretty well.

Just fired up my LPG one. Elderly neighbor brought over milk earlier so he expects it to be on anyway.

After Laura I ran my portable generator for 40 days straight, only turning it off to quickly change the oil then turn it right back on.

For Laura I sure as hell did. It was hot as balls and we needed the ac. For delta I was putting off running it all night because it was cool outside. Fortunately we did not lose power. Me personally, I probably wouldn’t run it tonight since it’s cool but if it floats your boat go ahead and run it. I don’t mind at all hearing the neighbors generator running. To me that’s just the sound of someone taking care of their family. Disclosure, I’m no way affect from Zeta

I heard them for a few weeks after Gustav. It didn't bother me. I was more jealous than we didn't have one and you couldn't find them anywhere.

You bought it for comfort and hopefully not to lose food in the fridge.

Should cool off in a few hours with the cold front coming in.

If you want to use it use it.

Run it to get the temperatures necessary to keep your foods safe in the fridge/freezer then shut down for a few hours to conserve fuel. Repeat. It’s not like you’re getting swamp arse from summer heat.
