I dunno man, I usually don't stray from the same 3-5 menu items at any restaurant I frequent.

I'm not against a small menu

I'm against a nearly identical small menu at every place

Or the oversaturation of a specific type of cuisine.

We have what feels like an obscene amount of pizza places here in Louisville and I can only think of one or two that really does it well.

While the one German place we had that was really good closed.

restaurants try to do too many things good they end up doing nothing great

Typical California restaurants for instance, try to put something on the menu to appease everyone and ends up sucking arse on 80% of it

Wouldn’t it be a better dining experience for a restaurant to have 10 great dishes?

Unfortunately they pick the most profitable, not the fan favorites.

Case in point: IHOP getting rid of stuffed french toast.

That’s just it. They are using the stats and percentages against you

The 3-5 YOU pick may overlap with the next person but they aren’t the same. Extrapolate that out over the entire population and we all get a larger menu.

What’s happening is those companies are banking on your selfish perspective to keep their profits afloat.

That leads to a leveling of expectations further paving the way towards totalitarianism.

You chodes really need to THINK more than ONE step ahead. True diversity is freedom. “Virtued diversity” is slavery.

This change has more to do with an increased awareness of how to optimize quality and profit.

Fewer dishes mean less waste, less prep work, and customers are more likely to get a consistent product.

Any restaurant that has several pages is a shite factory that is cutting corners to get by.

Now, post “Covid”, the best we can get is a one page men

At least we are getting menus again. I hated going to restaurants and they didn't want me to handle a menu and that had that QR Code on the table that you had to scan on your phone to pull up a menu. Hey, if I wanted to use my phone to order a meal, I would use Door Dash while sitting at home in just my underwear.

I agree that hotels & restaurants have gotten lazy post covid but I have to say…worse post-covid than a single-page menu are those QR code menus that force everyone to stare at their phones.

There's a reason why one of the first thing shitty restaurants do is downsize their menus.

What part of town? If you don't mind driving across the city some of my favorites:

Mayan Cafe
La Bodeguita de Mima (will need reservations)
Wild Eggs (Breakfast/Brunch)
Con Huevos (Also Breakfast/Brunch)
Oskars Slider Bar
ROC Italian
Louisville Cream (Ice Cream Shop but Delicious)

If you want a traditional hot brown from where it started, the Brown Hotel's English Grill is fantastic if it's open at the time.

Any restaurant that has a 3+ page menu is no place I want to be. No kitchen can have a menu of 50+ items and do them all well.

Would you rather 100 options if mediocre food? Or 15 options of excellent food?

I suspect OP is 1) a fatty 2) frequent visitor of chain restaurants, and 3) trashy
