Do you remember when restaurants had menus that were like books - pages to turn?

Now, post “Covid”, the best we can get is a one page menu with 10 items the restaurant “specializes” in

When are people going to fight back against the con job that allowed big companies to become lazy and MORE profitable at our expense?

Wouldn’t it be a better dining experience for a restaurant to have 10 great dishes?

Politicians and half the public cheered the closing down of mom and pop restaurants due to Covid for over a year. They called the police on restaurants if more than half full. Restaurant owners should be passive aggressive right now

I assume a restaurant that has more than one page to turn fricking sucks. Jack of all trades master of none

Really is true. The excuse is still low staffing everywhere I go, but the reality is that fewer options, fewer ingredients, easier to execute always means better margins. Why go back if people are still coming in adequate numbers? No incentive right now to do better.

Was always a good indicator that their food is somewhere between average and shite.

That’s the goal, not the manuscript menu.

The bigger the menu, the bigger the guarantee it’s half assed in the kitchen.

No. I can eat a meal in 30 minutes, like a man.

I would MUCH rather have a place that does a handful of dishes really well versus someone that just has a bunch of bullshite for the sake of having "variety". Full stop.

A condensed menu is better imo.

Rule of thumb is if you do a whole book of things, you don’t do them all well.

That’s how it should be. If a food menu is longer than one page front and back (for the food), I’m suspicious of how well they execute their dishes.

Want to go somewhere that sucks at everything they make, but hey at least you can get lo mein, fried chicken, and lasagna all in one convenient location? The Cheesecake Factory is your spot.
