Is home title theft a real thing?

Seems like home title insurance is BS.

Everyone I talked to about getting that insurance said it's a waste of money.

Probably one of Oweo's uncles or cousins. He'll be in here shortly with a 12 paragraph treatise on the matter.

I am curious about this, as I inherited my home, I have the papers from Attorney, but no other proof I own it. It is paid for.

No, but if you listen to terrestrial radio in your vehicle you would think this is the most important crisis facing Americans today with all the commercials they play for that crap.

Who's not suing the pants of their mortgage company, if this happens?

The steps that a crook would have to go through to steal the title to your home would be extreme. I'm not saying it can't happen but the probably seems really low. If it has happened it probably happened to elderly folks with crooked kids.

The hate insurance professionals face just for trying to protect and serve people is so sad. You may not ever need your home title insurance but if you don’t have it and you do need it it will be too late. If you’re sleeping under a roof tonight thank an insurance professional for keeping you safe.

Its extremely rare and when it does happen, its usually vacant property. Newt Gingrich is full of shite and just trying to scare vulnerable old people.

Those papers were most likely scanned and filed in the local court house where everyone's deed is kept before your attorney provided you with a copy.

It's not like an 1800's gold claim where they'd keep a physical deed on them to prove it's yours against claim jumpers.

Rare that it is needed

And the lawyer involved in closing should tell you when it really is

If its a house bought after whoever owned it died one kid may claim ownership and sell it but later another kid claims they owned it and lawyers up

The title insurance protects you

If you go to home title lock dot com the Fox News crew are the people promoting the insurance including Newt Gingrich. But Sensi is the biggest promoter.

In other words:

You may not ever need extraterrestrial alien invasion insurance but if you don’t have it and you do need it, it will be too late.

Honestly brother I’ve focus grouped the idea of extraterrestrial attack insurance as a new source of revenue amongst other insurance professionals and we decided that when it happens there won’t be anything left to pay out on and it seems unethical to offer it

If you have a mortgage on your property, the bank will require you to get a loan title insurance policy. It’s a nominal amount (few $100) to get the owners policy in conjunction with the loan policy. Really a no brainer not to do it at that point.

Just to go out and randomly buy a title insurance policy is kind of silly.
