Why is this still a big deal?

Let cyclists inject as much EPO, blood bags, beaver tranquilizers as they can just like you let those in baseball, football, and basketball have access to a buffet of steroids, HGH, etc. This may hit you by surprise, but fairies don't exist, and you would be hard pressed to find one athlete who could compete at today's level without PEDs.

I personally wish they would just be open to it, not condone it but just not give a shite about it. If athletes want to do it, let them. Sports are entertainment and it would certainly make all the sports a lot more entertaining.

Problem is if you sanction PEDs then it becomes a baseline requirement just to compete.

Yes, and I think Porn stars shouldn't be allowed to take Viagra either. It's giving me an inferiority complex and painting an unrealistic picture of the male sexual performance.

I'd support controlled doping for the purposes of recovery after games and/or surgery

Hell Yes!!

Pee Wee football and Tee Ball would be so much more entertaining if my Sons and their teammates were all 'roided up and pumped full of HGH.

Since they would have 10-12 years of SEC level of competition under their belt and their livers would be shot by Sophomore Year, I wouldn't have to budget any money for college!!

WIN - WIN!!!

I don't have an issue with it. Got her doped in a few years back and she shoots pretty straight.

Exactly. You would be requiring athletes to take health risks just to be able to compete in the sport.

I mean the simplest solution is to allow it universally. If they are so concerned with evening the playing field and all, then having everyone on it would essentially do that.

And let's not act like there is some huge health risk. I mean have you researched the shite Lance Armstrong was doing? That is the some of most cutting edge medical technology in the world. You think they just spend all that energy on it without regard to ramifications? please

Exactly. It's also a tragedy how the greatest athlete of all time, Lance Armstrong, will forever have an asterisk by his name. Not a single person in the Tour de France has been clean for decades, yet it was a witch hunt for Lance's head, making the sport more inequitable because the most talented have to pass even more drug tests.

My doped up athlete can beat the piss out of you dope.

It’s already basically a requirement now to compete at the college level.

It’s not to break records either. It’s just to be strong enough and big enough to be able to even hang with the other guys. Plus, the recovery while taking steroids is so much faster.

My main argument against them is PEDs are often incredibly unhealthy long term. Forcing everyone to risk their long term health to compete is unfair. If sports became a science lab experiment of drugs and all athletes ended up dead by 50, I don’t think that’s a good thing. Sure most are doing some but testing and rules at least keeps it at a relatively safe level.

I used to love to dope, especially when X was legal.

I worry about letting PEDs be legal in say football because within a decade or two of research and money players would be taken off in body bags fairly regularly.

For pro cycling, open it up and let's see how many watts a human can sustain up the Col d’Izoard.

Cycling has gotten boring since the Armstrong scandal. The mountain stages are all about conservation nobody attacks, if they do it is a simple 50 meter sprint off the front just to get rolled back up in half a klick. During the height of doping guys were trading attacks all the way up Hor category climbs like Ali and Foreman.

Anyone that thinks they aren't doping now is also nuts, while they have hard to start back over and find new approaches to avoid detection anyone that thinks Sky is doing it all on legs and lungs is wrong. Give it a few more years and you will see the superhumans of the early 2000s again. I actually think they are capable of more today, they just choose not to show it unless they absolutely have to.

Stage races like the Grand Tours require the body to be pushed farther and longer than and of the other major pro sports. Without doping it is just a race of conservation and survival. MCGA.

Yeah, it's getting ridiculous. These guys can sustain 5-6 watts per kilo for 4.5 hours at a time nearly every day for half a year, and people wonder why they don't put their power meter data up: raise suspicion maybe?
