Totally open with friends. Completely avoid in work and on social because I'm in Human Resources.

I shut all political talk down. I can't stand them.

When discussing politics, I normally make broad declarations not grounded in any kind of evidence and when presented with facts to the contrary, I double down on my misconceptions. If I continue to be challenged, I will normally create a strawman, attack it, and engage in ad hominem attacks before unilaterally declaring victory and exclaiming publicly how terrible of a person my opponent is.

My pops told me when I was young to never talk about politics and religion in public.

I don't mind sharing my views, but they are not very popular especially when it comes to my religious beliefs.

I good-naturedly enjoy talking about all of them.

But almost everyone you talk to about it makes it a few minutes and gets upset.

I like talking about how these people feel about them, how those people feel about them, etc.

Nobody is perfect and there is good and bad in everybody's ideals.

People take all three WAAAY too seriously.

Religion - only talk it with open minded people that don't get easily offended. Living in Alabama, that's not very often on that topic. I'm agnostic with atheist leanings, but do go to church(Episcopal)

So are you opened minded about being ah agnostic? Funny how just because someone believes something is right they are considered closed minded. Believe it or not sometimes people make up there mind, commit to something and aren’t swayed by every whim that comes along.

Most agnostic people I know are incredibly open-minded about religion. That’s kind of what makes them agnostic.

Sure. I grew up Catholic and was in church every Sunday morning. Got disillusioned with Catholicism and explored many different faiths. Got to a point where I was pretty ambivalent on the God/religion thing.

Did I say that? I've come across many religious people that are willing to speak of religion open mindedly. Many are not, and there's nothing wrong with that. They're steadfast in their faith, and I've found it's futile talking religion with them. Some of them are my close friends, and we just talk about other things.

Hey Meadowlark, you sure ask a lot of questions.

Here’s your answer:

Have social skills & an IQ higher than that of a gerbil and these questions would answer themselves.

My dad has become a flaming liberal in his old age, and his wife (my step-mother) is even worse. I am okay with this, as I am generally accepting of differing viewpoints and have a live and let live attitude. My dad, however, can't talk about politics without getting angry, and can't talk religion without being condescending and snarky.

I tried a few times to tell them that I really don't want to talk that stuff with them, but it's like they can't help themselves. This has pretty much ruined what was a decent father-son relationship for 40 years or so. Now I pretty much avoid talking to him and cut conversations short when we do talk . Sad really.

No, and I don't care to hear others talking about theirs in the office either.
