My buddies had this conversation at lunch today. LSU getting a lot of negative publicity lately. Had a buddy who is a die hard LSU fan say he Does not think he can send his daughter (no pics) there next year.
Is he overreacting?

Not at all.

Like on a scale of pillows to Baghdad, it's a soft blanket.

College in general is a dangerous place to attend then

Mature kids who put their mind where it needs to be have no issues at all

How can you send your daughter to any college when 20% of women on campuses are sexually assaulted?

Any place that has any significant population has a risk. That’s just a fact of life. But no. LSU isn’t a dangerous place. It’s like anywhere else. A bit of common sense and basic caution goes a long way. shite happens, but let’s not act like college students are the best decision makers.

It was later discovered that one person went on the highly publicized "crime spree" a few weeks ago.

You can't stop one person from going rogue like that

LSU has nearly 40,000 people on campus, there will always be some crime

Counter point.

That said, I don't think LSU is any more dangerous than the multitude of schools located in urban areas.

Its a big school, and just like when u move to a bigger city, there are more opportunities for you to get into trouble, and there are more good things also, there are more youth church groups, yet there are more frat parties, theres basically more of everything if u come from a small town.. if you raised your kid to make good decisions, they should be fine... if your kid stays in trouble in highschool? Then its probably not wise to send them to LSU. However, its a school that they will flunk out of, if they dont get their crap together and realize that they have to study and show up to class.. you will know in a year if they can hack it or not
