By preferential, I'm saying that all else being less than or equal (school, major in college, GPA, interns/co-ops, etc.) will black women typically land the job?

I've read before that this is a scarcity effect and that it normalizes given a percentage of representation. For instance, black women are over represented in subjects like education and under represented as computer information systems specialists.

Honestly, I don't like the over/under representation language. It puts people into boxes of race and not ability or desire for a certain profession.

No, I haven't been overlooked for a position due to a black woman.

If you are anything other than a white male, you get preferential treatment.

If you can find the unicorn black female that actually works and is qualified, then yes.

Maybe “where” folks are applying for work would add some context to your question.

There are many areas of private industry that have no preferential quotas in small & medium-sized companies.

Anything other than white male gets preferential treatment.

Although it does vary depending on the area involved whether its academics or industry.

Blacks universally get preferential treatment in admissions standards, not every candidate who is black, but a larger portion than most races. Same could be said for Hispanics.

Now Asians, they actually seem to face being discriminated AGAINST when it comes to med school or elite schools.

Yes. That checks two boxes. Black and a Female. And there not required to do as much work. Others are just suppose to “pick up the slack” True Story said by management

We had lay offs to get rid of the overpaid guys (white IT). They hired two black women and one white woman. Only one (black) was worth a shite. The white woman quit and one of the black women got fired for not showing up for work.. like MIA. They also hired a white gay guy..He was an excellent worker who worked his way up to management..He ended up quitting because of being overworked.

Some bigger companies I worked for in the past had diversity departments. Typically run by a black guy who seemed like he hates whitey. They definitely went out of their way to get unqualified black folks in to positions that they didn’t excel in. It did seem like they went out of their way to put women in there.
