I had a college professor tell us that if you were a minority you should attach your picture to your resume that way you’d be guaranteed an interview.

I work in local industry. There is a push to increase minority and female hiring in the plants to bring demographics up to area norms. In industry black women are unicorns. Women in general are scarce but black women... wow.

That is not to say that women and black women are not present in support or staff groups by larger margins though.

When the selection criteria, based on skills, knowledge and experience, between candidates is close ...we always choose the one with the biggest breastplate.

This. We have only a few minorities and hesitant to hire any since it damn near requires an act of congress to fire them.

I've met many qualified black women. They aren't "unicorns" in my experience.
