No surprise since Big Lots is in BK and closing 500 stores

Hate to see them go. I have made tens of thousands of dollars buying clothes and toys from there and selling on line. I once bought an entire grocery cart of star wars figures for $10, and ended up clearing over $5,000 from it.

How does this compare to an Ollie’s?
Ollie's stores are nicer and cleaner and sell overstock. All items are new.
Dirt Cheap stores sell overstock, returns, and damaged items.

There's one about 20 miles from here.
Visited it once. No thanks.
(Now, my city has a knockoff called Crazy Deals. I've seen cleaner garage sales run by relatives of hoarders.)

For those of you have not been to a Dirt Cheap, think of a store that is 2-3 economic levels below Big Lots.
Do they do dirty deeds dirt cheap?

Who sells the liquidated goods of a store going through liquidation? If they just put everything on the curb and let people take what they want, will they end up with more or less stuff to throw away?

I have purchased some nice Hunter ceiling fans, an EGO pole saw attachment, closet organizer and so on lol…. Shoot, my Christmas tree came from there lol, 400$ tree for 99$ and still rocking 3 years later.

I had never heard of the store before when they opened it up here in Bossier.
Went in not long after it opened and they had two pallets full of plastic cap felt nails that ended up being like $10 a box. They are normally like $50 a box. Bought both pallets. Place was pretty nice, clean, organized, had a good flooring selection.
Went in some time later and the place looked like a pawn shop had been robbed and was a complete disaster. Never went back. Saved probably over 1k on nails the only purchase I ever made there though.

headed up by hypocrites...had a young man who worked for them 8 years, very diligent.. they wanted him to go to Michigan after Katrina, he asked for two days to secure his home/family..was told "go now or not at all"..he told them drop dead.

How does this compare to an Ollie’s?

Have run across a handful of good deals on shite in the past, but the store itself is so god-awful nasty. I couldn’t even stand to go in there anymore.
I've been in twice and it is just random shite strewn across the building. Literally on the floor

sounds like Suda Salvage on Jefferson hwy in the 70's. Taught me how to pass/fail dented cans of food

my Mom is rolling over in her grave. her favorite store!

Most of the stuff at Dirt Cheap seemed like weird, Chinese-brand shite you wouldn't even find in mainstream stores. shite you'd never normally consider buying except that now it was at Dirt Cheap for "clearance" prices.

They used to have a store called “Hudson’s Treasure Hunt” that had a little better stuff in it, with Dirt Cheap getting the absolute crap. There were several in the Mobile area circa 2005-2007.

Yeah, I'm sure there actually were a lot of crazy deals randomly floating through there.
I visit my mom in NW Florida fairly often and used to go into Dirt Cheap near her just to do something.
I have a record shop and once found about 200 new reissue LPs of stuff like Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Queen, AC/DC that were all still sealed but had gotten slightly bent corners in shipping which they were selling for $3 each. Since they retail for $30-40, it was pretty easy to sell them all at my shop for $15-20 each and make a lot of people happy.

There's a girl at work that's obsessed with this place. She said its never been the same since the owner died in the Columbia, Mississippi tornado about 10 years ago.

I forgot there's a Dirt Cheap and Dirt Cheap Building Supplies. I would imagine both of them are closing. I only ever went to the Building Supplies. Walked in the front door of the regular Dirt Cheap and immediately turned around and walked out. Looked like it was just a massive store that had cardboard boxes full of random crap in them.

Looks like Christmas will be cheaper this year for my kids.
