When my dad was pissed, we would use sir but other than that it was pretty casual. They did teach my siblings and I to say sir and ma'am to all other parents, authority figures, elders, etc.

As a parent, it's same for me with my kids and what I expect of them.

Not really, unless I was in trouble

Then it may be "Yes?! Yes what?!!?" But we were also pretty respectful to adults without prompting so I'm guessing they never saw the need to insist upon it. I've said yes sir/yes ma'am as appropriate since I was pretty young, but it wasn't a requirement around the house.

yep.

Made me put my dish in the dishwasher, make my bed, brush my teeth, do chores and all the other shite kids used to have to do. Limited TV time too.

My dad was a career army officer. I had to say ma’am and sir pretty often growing up, especially in front of my dad’s army colleagues.
