Absolutely with a belt or a wooden spoon. I was always deserving.

Heck, if I cried for more than a few seconds, or you know, made a thing of the crying, me dad would open my window until I shut up. Didn't take long. This was when kids played in the street until dark, so people heard.

Yes with a belt.

Did i deserve it? Nah. I dont think a child deserves to be physically assaulted by an adult.

I can tell you its not effective at all. And studies will show the same thing. I never once in my childhood didnt do something for fear of getting my arse beat. Its not preventive. Its retaliatory.

If you are a parent who whips their kid you can never honestly say "I would never do anything to hurt you" to your kid. Even if you are under the impression that it is for their own good.

BS. I had a Navy pediatrician tell me that if your child does something dangerous you can smack their behind.

If a 3 year old barrels down the driveway to get her toy in the street nearly running in front of a truck you can bet your sweet arse, if you can catch her, a smack on her butt will make her remember.

As far a teenagers. Take the keys to the car and all electronic devices.

The only legit timeout is on the knees on rice on the corner of a brick floor with your nose against the wall.

I know some people from Raceland who had to kneel on rice. Sometimes for 20 or 30 minutes.

On me, my mom used: coat hangers, hair brushes on the back of the legs. Old man just used his hand to the butt.

I got plenty of them...many bare-assed, never with an object other than a belt. I don't fear my parents, but I also don't respect them, but that has absolutely zero to do with them spanking me.

We spank our kids for things that are blatantly disrespectful or willfully defiant, which is pretty rare, but it happens. Spanking at our house is 1, maybe 2 good swift swats on the bottom, and definitely not bare-assed. Something about that seems to add insult to injury to me.
We have been incredibly consistent with our timeouts and "removal of positive reinforcement," but in our case, for some behaviors, that is just not effective.

Yes in the fact that I did something wrong. But no in regards to the severity of the whipping/beating I recieved.

My dad yes. not my mother because she rarely got me with a belt.

Just like spanking, they work for some kids, others not so much. At some point you have to get their attention, and your kids have to have a healthy fear of you and what will happen to them if they act up.

sometimes. Usually a belt. It may have worked when I was very young. When I got older, it just made me defiant and angry. Restriction of priviliges worked better for me.

Some of these make me laugh as I was whipped with about everything said here. I did catch a metal flyswatter once....that sucked!!

Also, no one has said yet but we got whipped in school too. The worst was having a coach whip you in gym class.....

As a child I was whipped. When I got older and punishment was more effective they started to do that.

Not being able to hang out with friends, watch tv, get on the computer usually worked pretty good.

I didn't fear my parents at all and of course I deserved it. I will do the same to my kids.

Edit: I feared them in the sense that threatening a spanking would usually straighten me out.

When I was a kid, I got my arse handed to me when I deserved it. Definitely made me think about the consequences of my actions.

I used corporal punishment on my kids (now too old) for serious issues but I do also incorporate time-outs, and taking away things that are treasured.

This was done to me, along with kneeling on heater vents.

shite sucked. Didn't deserve it. Would never do that to my kids.

I support the occasional whoppin', but I don't partake myself due to fear of child protection.

A coworker of mine had his life ruined and eventually moved out of state due to spanking his 3 year old.
