Did Italy's lack of quality health care cause the entire world to panic?

The whole world was worried the health care system was going to be overrun with patients but seems like Italy was the only country to have this issue. Obviously, we will never truly know if everyone else could have handled the full force of the coronavirus because of the steps that have been put in place to slow the spread. It makes me wonder if Italy's health care system is so poor that they would be one of the few outliers among first world countries or if without the steps put in place the US's system would have been overrun. What do you think?

You can have the best healthcare in the world, but if you have a higher than average population of the exact people most susceptible to a deadly virus, there's only so much you can do.

I don't think it was so bad for them because the healthcare system is bad.
I think it has a lot more to do with how their population is set up. It's begging for a viral disease to destroy them. Families all live in the same house. Imagine if Mawmaw lived in your house with you, your parents lived in your house with you, and you and your own wife and kids were all in close proximity. They undoubtedly had an incredible infection rate and a high elderly population.

Italy's health care may not be the best in the world, but it's better than a lot of countries that haven't been hit nearly as hard.

I don’t think Italy’s HCQ is what primarily caused the problem.
They have significantly fewer acute care beds than the US and Germany (close to a third as many) but they are in line with the rest of the developed world.
But as to the base premise, yes. How much it kicked Italy’s arse played a large tone in the panic. Especially when Spain followed suit and to a lesser degree France.

Dense population centers. Public transportation that is actually used is also another major factor, at least in the US
