I’ve seen no less than 25 people walk or jog by my window over the past hour or so

My neighborhood in Nashville is slammed with walkers/joggers.

But people keep their distance from each other. We've walked with groups of friends and still really avoid each other well enough.

Damn pollen has me sneezing so people are terrified of me anyway

They'll be shutdown for months and WAYYYY below capacity for much longer than that. And again, they don't have insurance paying for rebuilds/loss of income/etc.

You do realize the majority of restaurants are still open correct? We’ve been eating take out just about every night for the past 2-3 weeks. Got tired of cooking every night.

And the ones that are shutdown won’t be shut down for months.

We can just agree to disagree.

So if people are doing what they do anyway why keep the lockdown?

That guy at the Hard Rock garage has an excuse. It appears that he’s stuck at work.

Wonder if sheriffs will stop enforcing it by May 16th if she doesn't lift it. Probably.

If CLS is smart she’ll open up Jefferson Parish on May 1.

This statement doesn't mean it's a smart decision, just the smartest of all her dumb decisions?

JBE will be forced to open up. As Texas, Miss and Arkansas start rebuilding their economies, Louisiana will be left in the dust.

The sad news is that our economy will be just fine-- people making more on unemployment than they would be working in this state, will stimulate economy just fine.

Sad but true.

All I’m getting out of this is the reason I believe NO is a failed city.

Even their own constituents don’t recognize their own problems or a need to change.

NO will never diversify.

It will live or die by the tourism industry.

Maybe it’s just a noble gesture.

Just fine to me.

I make baller money and don't care about the ancillary shite though. I'm 20 steps from a parade route so my bourbon stays full and white enough I won't become a statistic.

Optics.

Also, there are residential contractors and painters working all over the city.

Home Depot and Lowe’s are packed.

The grocery stores are packed.

The tax base is still working and making money and spending money.

Houses are being bought and sold.

The city’s economy is still flowing somewhat, it’s only been a month.

shite restaurants and hotels and tourism took a hit during the Oil Spill as well.

I don’t see this aftermath being worse than Katrina.

We’ll have some obstacles but I can see a quick rebound and I don’t see restaurants being shutdown for months.

Do I see scaled back operations with waitstaff and customers once they reopen, absolutely

- True, but slowing.

Home Depot and Lowe’s are packed.

- Ok

The grocery stores are packed.

-Ok

The tax base is still working and making money and spending money.

- At a fraction of the normal amount

Houses are being bought and sold.

- Ok, but not at the same pace

The city’s economy is still flowing somewhat, it’s only been a month.

Somewhat? Nearly every hotel in the city is closed. Restaurants and bars are nonexistent. The city is based on tourism.

shite restaurants and hotels and tourism took a hit during the Oil Spill as well.

- These groups receieved money from the BP lawsuit.

I don’t see this aftermath being worse than Katrina.

- There will be no national/international pity visitors to NOLA like after Katrina. People will support their own local businesses. New Orleans is a low income area.

We’ll have some obstacles but I can see a quick rebound and I don’t see restaurants being shutdown for months.

- We are rolling right into Summer which is the slowest time in the city.

You need to get out more. The French Quarter isn’t the only neighborhood with restaurants

Slowing, why would people working on their houses be slowing? That’s all people have to do.

Exactly. We’re already slow this time of year, so the big hit is really April and May because of the festivals. July bc of Essence, August bc it’s hot as frick, Sept schools back in but football will be back.

If you don’t think we’ll be up and running by football season then you’re naive.

Id be nervous if I lived in one of the expanding markets like central city, broadmoor, or marigny. Those frickers are going to lose their investment. Attcking STRs and killing the renters market is going to destroy those areas. Toya will get a lot more voters back in from Chalmette and the Westbank though.

I’ve been having 2 Air BnBs on my street with for sale signs up since Dec. and they are both vacant.
