Place on Tiger Bend passed me every time with a crack like you describe. About a mile past Antioch.

I was denied a month ago for a long crack on the passenger side. he said that the law now requires no cracks longer than 6 or 8 inches.

My car came from a dealership in Texas, which has less stupid tint laws than Louisiana (IMAGINE THAT!) and that dude ran me off last time because my tint is too dark. He'd been inspecting my cars for 12 years.

I had to remove my tint for an inspection because mine was at 14% on the driver and passenger windows. Honestly, at times it was a bitch making turns at night with tint that dark. Texas law below:
Windshield: 25% VLT tint is allowed above the manufacturer's AS-1 line or top 5 inches, with less than 25% reflection. Front Side windows: Must allow more than 25% of light in. Back Side windows: Any darkness can be used. Rear Window: Any darkness can be used with side outside mirrors, 25% VLT without.

I didn't know the OP was a female. Sorry if my post was offensive, OP.
I kind of went through a similar situation in the 90's when my old Mazda MX6 wouldn't pass an emissions test in Texas.
A buddy who did mortgages talked to a client who owned a shop in the hood. I met my friend at the shop on ML King. I met the shop owner while one of his mechanics started checking my car. When the guy opened the hood, the owner told him to stop, "Before we find something wrong with it", and slapped a sticker in the window. He wouldn't take extra money.
Right after I moved to Texas, my car still had all Louisiana tags and stickers, and I needed an inspection sticker. I was over visiting my parents in Ruston, so I stopped at an old full service station that did them.
My GF was with me in the car. It was raining. A guy came out and said they'd do my car as soon as they got through with the one in the garage door. We sat there waiting for eight or nine minutes chatting. The guy came back out and tapped on the window. When I rolled it down, he said he didn't know the other car was going to take so long, reached in with a razor knife, scraped the old sticker off, slapped a new one on, smiled and said that'll be $20."
I'd never seen him before, but my GF never believed that, because she couldn't believe he just did it.

Try Auto Glass Now on Airline Hwy for discount replacement windshields. I got a new windshield for an older Chevy Silverado a few years ago for around $75. What make and model car are you driving?

Wait a minute... windshield has been cracked to the point it is deemed unsafe... and been that way for at least a year?
Rather than fix it you just hunt around to skirt the law..... jeez, quit being a cheap bastard and fix the damn thing already, if not I hope a cop with a hard-on for cracked windshields finds you.

My windshield has an 8 inch crack at the very bottom of the passenger side. Not anywhere close to my view and I tried to her three different places to get a sticker around New Orleans with no luck. At this point I’m taking my chances because the windshield replacement is much more expensive than a new windshield.

There's a place on Greenwell Springs. Can't remember what it's called but ask around and somebody will know the name

Get your car tagged in Mississippi. They did away with the inspection sticker scam 3 years ago.

Sloppy sting. Maybe you, as the state compliance inspector, should take your wreck around and see who gives you a sticker.

Yes. the no 6" crack rule has already started. Doesn't matter location

I went 10 years without renewing a sticker. Didn't get caught. Even when I got into some fender-benders, the cops didn't look at my windshield.

Then go get an inspection done.

It's probably not unsafe. Inspection stickers are nothing but a money grab. I find it particularly funny that we have to do an emissions test in some parishes. The poor air quality isn't largely caused by the number of vehicles in this area.

All because some fricking 18-wheeler kicked a rock and hit my windshield while driving on the interstate. Now I have PTSD while driving behind those bastards.
Maybe don't follow too close behind. And if they have missing flaps, follow even further back.

Do Not! I repeat DO NOT post on here whether or not your problem was solved and by whom. Don't cause them any headaches with the DPS, DOTD, etc. Most of the older shops are grandfathered in regarding new regulations. They lose their ability to sell Inspection Stickers they likely won't get it back. Now a new licensee inspector must have a a certain number of feet driving lane to check a car's braking system. Meaning they must incur the cost of installing a paved area of some type probably 100-150 feet in length. So again, find someone willing to do the work and don't brag about it to everyone anywhere or anyplace.
