a meltdown similar to the election would be a 3+ day-long deliberation with multiple attempts by the jury to say they can't reach a verdict, only to end up convicting Chauvin when the judge kept sending them back

I've been on a jury before, in Orleans Parish. I was the foreman of the jury and actually convinced the two lone (black)holdouts to convict, on pretty heinous charges.
One guy started out the deliberations by saying he would never want to convict young black men.
THIS case is an animal of another color. You have the PRESIDENT of the US saying the jury "better come out with the right decision" and a sitting member of US Congress threatening violence, AND two prominent US media companies literally saying "WE KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE."
frick that.
Its moot because my arse would have done anything and said anything to not be on that jury. I would have said how much I hated cops and they all need to burn in hell.

I would go the jury selection thing in a white hood if I needed to. It just wouldn't happen

Let’s say it’s murder and he appeals. Could the appeals court overturn the conviction with Waters’s comments as a factor?
That would be glorious.
That would be glorious.

If they don’t get him for at least the murder charge yeah they going to riot

Yeah anything less than murder and it'll be some shite I think
Honestly there will probably be shenanigans even with a murder conviction but it'll die off a lot quicker and be far less widespread

I feel confident rioting is on the menu tonight regardless

Took four hours to find OJ not guilty. Let's see what happens here
The exact opposite racial dynamics in play there at a time of just as much racial unrest (Rodney King).
Actually could be seen as further evidence this will be a conviction.

Historians are going to regard this trial as the first major trial where social media and the ease of leaking addresses and names to the masses dictated the outcome

I just wouldn't have shown up for a Jury summons when I knew Jury selection was going on.
"Oh I didn't see the summons my bad. I'll show up to the next one."

He can’t be found guilty of all charges, can he?
It’s either one of them or none of them if guilty, right? It’s just a matter of which charge they find him guilty of.
