With her BAC as high as it was, obviously not. I think this will be an open and shut case.
What would be more interesting, is that if her BAC was only at a .08 or so. If she allegedly verbally consented at the time, what does the law state for this level of drunkeness.

Any alcohol/impairment throws out consent. At her level it’s dumb to ask. And even if she was interested it doesn’t matter in cases when impaired. Also just because parties are at equal levels, it doesn’t matter.
With that being said, you have to be pretty ballsy these days with metoo as a guy because that crap can ruin one when the next day the girl realizes it was a poor choice.

That's why I see Casen Carver 'flipping' as they need someone in the vehicle to verify her lack of capacity and they all knew it or should have known it.
Her not knowing where she lived = pretty big clue she lacked capacity.
Problem there is Carver helping state only plays into the 'race card' defense is already playing here. Someone on WAFB compared this case to Emmett Till. !
Their lawyer already got out 'she consented on video' to potential jurors.
We see people in this thread saying she got drunk, lacked personal responsibility, so... How would they vote if on a jury?
But, yes, hurdles with a jury especially in EBR.

No I have read that, but that’s just him saying she was “drunk”. I find the driver saying “I hated it” to be far more damning and indicative of just how drunk she was

Reggies has a long history of being an absolute shithole. This isn't the first rape that has happened there. God only knows how many assaults, DUIs, and rapes have happened by/to their patrons. The place has been a blight on society
I don't care about underage drinking, hell I think the drinking age should be 18. closing reggies isn't going to stop college kids from drinking. That much we can all agree on.
That said, they have knowingly and actively profited off of the sale of booze to minors. One of their former employees was able to able to drink underage to the point of blacking out prior to her getting raped and killed in a car accident. They absolutely deserve to be roasted for this.
It shouldn't just stop at Reggie's. The ATC, BRPD, and LSU all have known what happens at this bar for years. They have only received slaps on the wrists. People need to look into who they were paying off.

I am curious to see if there was anything else in her system, possibly planted by the street pharmacist in her drink, that may have affected her ability to make the right decisions. Good chance she was slightly drunk when they targeted her, pushing her beyond her limits with a little extra help.

they are both damning. but you literally have the raper admitting and emphasizing how drunk the woman is he's raping.
the driver could have said "he hated it" cause he was jealous. i'm just making up shite but you literally have the raper acknowledging how drunk the victim was.

To answer my own question, the temps at around 1AM on Sunday 1/15/23 in BR were just above freezing.
Not that any dignity or decency were to be found but the reason they couldn't call 911 for someone in that state and that cold is it would incriminate themselves.

Dude frick Reggie’s. I am understanding to bars in general that they can’t police everything that happens, but Reggie’s is a gutter trash shithole that’s entire business model is letting kids get fricked up beyond belief while not caring in the slightest

I'm not arguing whether or not a crime was committed. That will be left up to the judge/jury to decide (assuming there is no guilty plea in lieu of trial). What I'm saying is that the case will almost assuredly be polarizing along racial lines in the city without any desire to listen to the facts once they fully come out. And you'll have people with agendas getting in front of every microphone they can to push their narrative. One side is going to think these boys did nothing wrong and they are only getting railroaded because of their skin color. The other is going to believe the boys went out with the sole purpose of getting a young girl drunk and gang raping her. It's likely neither of those narratives are fully true (even though that doesn't mean a crime wasn't committed). Yet, many are only going to listen to what they want to hear and aligns with their already formulated conclusion.
It is a horribly tragic event. As an outsider and parent all I can do is use it as a teaching moment. For those with young girls, further emphasize just how important it is to be aware of their own behavior and try to not put themselves in a position where they COULD be taken advantage of. For boy, emphasize that in no way, shape or form is it EVER ok to take advantage of a clearly impaired young girl. A lot of young lives are going to be ruined by this event, which probably no one went out that night with the intent of things ever leading to all of this.

It seems easy enough for LSU to run continuous buses to/from Tigerland past the apartments down Burbank/Nicholson and through campus by the dorms and fraternity houses. These buses and routes exist anyway, just not at night.
They're making money hand over fist, and this seems like an easy move to make parents feel like it's a safe place to send their kids.
