I’m the president of my neighborhood HOA.
I ran because I hated our HOA and on the platform of doing as little as possible. I really only put time into being a pain in the arse to the management company and making sure that the services that we pay for are provided.
That said, none of that gives me the authority to stop cars in the street.

Almost certainly, the neighborhood doesn't allow trucks that large. I'd be willing to bet that what they really wanted to know was which homeowner decided to break the rules.
But, you can't detain someone for delivering furniture. I think Dave Stewart is pretty damn lucky the cops didn't show up. He's also pretty lucky that the two brothers didn't decide to kick his arse.

Any neighborhood that has cheap arse roads that will start to break up if anything heavier than a sedan drives on it shouldn't have a HOA.
With that said, the driver handled that as professional as possible because I would have gone to jail and got fired that day. Not saying that to be cool, I am saying that because I know how I am.
The first thing I would have done was get out, go get into his car and move it, take the keys out and throw them. But if he would have done anything to prevent me from doing that, I would have done something irrational.
