Deepfakes drama on YouTube/twitch

There’s some drama on YouTube/twitch about a streamer getting caught on stream looking at purchased deep fakes of two of his friends (girls) who are also streamers. People are freaking out about it. One of the girls went on stream and was crying, acting like she was a victim of an invasion of privacy, similar to how a victim of sexual assault would react.
I get that it’s unethical for someone to create fake videos/photos of others, especially these types. But what I’m not getting is this girl and others acting like this is some huge assault on them personally. Maybe because I’m a guy who’s not particularly attractive I can’t put myself in their shoes, but if I learned people out there were attracted to me so much they were making deep fakes of me I’d be a little flattered, although probably a little annoyed that one day my kid would probably see those, but I know I wouldn’t be devastated over it.
So what ‘a the consensus here. Is the girl and her sympathizers acting with rational outrage and hurt, or are they blowing this out of proportion?

I think that people that watch these YouTube/twitch streamers are fricking losers. That’s what I think.

Well, he did buy fake porn of people he allegedly considered his friends. I guess it could be considered a little creepy.

Do you have a wife, sister, daughter, or mom? If so, would it bother you if someone made one of these deepfake videos of them?

Yes. And absolutely...I own those production rights

Idk,
If this happened to my daughter(no pics) I would be pretty upset with it.
Even though the images/videos are deep faked, the problem is that people will still see them and think it is real. It likely won't be widely known that the young lady did NOT willfully do this. That can still ruin her reputation with sponsors. Even if in the short term. that is damaging. Sorta like how Johnny Depp got fricked by Amber even though it was eventually proven that he was innocent.

IDK the circumstances here because the OP didn't post links to anything.
But generally deep fakes can be used in a nefarious way. People will believe them and it could ruin reputations and livelihoods very quickly.

It's pretty fricked up to make deepfakes like that without consent. That's what I think.
I can't imagine how bad of a problem this is going to be in the very near future.

Internet society really blows.

Show me a man who hasn’t had sexual thoughts about attractive women in their life. He just took it one step further, but to me it wasn’t much different in an ethical sense than what men have been doing since the beginning of time (using their thoughts). The biggest problem to me is that these are images/videos that will be floating around the internet forever against people’s will, but that’s just one of the downfalls of freedom and technology that we have to accept unless we want to limit freedom and/or technology. So I get being weirded out and frustrated by it, but to act like you’ve been traumatized/assaulted and this guy is a scum bag is taking it to another level, but again maybe it’s because I can’t put myself in their shoes.

Like he deepfaked two girls into pornos or he deepfaked them into a lol video?
The former would be wrong. Though I made a fake Jennifer Love Hewitt image 20 years ago.

What were the deepfakes doing? Were they doing something sexual? Was it something bad? Or was this just one of them making a joke?
Either way consent is needed. But I can't really join the pitchfork mob without knowing what is going on here.
