Exercise hard. I also ate something really spicy to get a good endorphin rush when a bad craving hit.

I finally got on Wellbutrin, it made quitting a cakewalk.

Day 3 - No Cigs

I'm on month 15 of not smoking after almost 40 years of smoking anywhere between 1-2 packs a day. Unfortunately I can't give any advice because I had to quit because of necessity, I had a stroke and if I resumed smoking it would guarantee that I would have another one.

I can say it gets a little easier with time but there are still occasions where I get to wanting one pretty bad. For example, one of the worse things I can do is eat while driving my car because it combines two of the most common times I would light up, after a meal and while driving.

Good luck to you, it takes a lot of willpower but you will feel better if you can keep it up. I know I don't miss that smokers cough I had, it's gone and I'm glad of it. The money you'll save don't hurt either

chantix script this week.

Does that work?

It works. 2 of my friends used it with great success. One of them reported some crazy thoughts and dreams. Luckily, he knew that would happen going into it.

Now there’s motivation

Glad you survived without any apparent significant effects. Best of luck to you.

Getting to Day 3 is pretty damn good, for me Day 1 & 2 were hell but after Day 5 it got progressively a bit easier every day.

Danger zone around Day 60 when I think I have it licked and one or two cigarettes won't hurt. They do and I was right back at it until I finally quit.

Nicotine gum works but you'll be addicted to it and it's expensive. Try to go without but if you feel an overwhelming urge to buy a pack, get the gum first. The mint flavors are far better than the original non flavored gum which is awful.

Freedom from cigarettes is true freedom in so many ways. No having to run outside after a restaurant meal to get that nicotine hit. Car / Truck no longer stinks. Long airplane rides. The list goes on.

Being a former smoker is the best move you'll ever make for long term physical health.

Good luck.

Yeah, probably not.

But cigs are a bitch. I only smoked for a few years from 18 - ~22, and I managed to kick it pretty easily because I was sick of it. You guys with a looong time smoking... I wish you the best

You are almost completely past the physical addiction portion.

Now you need to change up your routines because the habit portion is up next. After a week or 2 it's easy and after a month you should be fine.

First week is the hardest due to physical withdrawal. If you make it past day four you ARE in the clear, I promise. It’s all mental after that. Quit dipping several years ago after a 12 year can a day habit. While I miss it, I don’t miss being a slave to nicotine. Trust me, it’s worth quitting!

I did it right after college. At first you can't imagine not smoking especially when having drinks. Once you get over the hump you can't imagine why you ever smoked and you're disgusted by it.

You can do it if you really want to. I quit cold turkey in 2002 not long after my 50th birthday and have not put a cigarette to my lips since.

If the desire and conviction is strong enough to quit, you can do it. It does get much easier after a couple weeks too. Wait until you grasp the stench of smokers around you and you'll wonder why you ever started that filthy habit.

When I quit I was active in the local dart league and pool league, so I was in bars 2-3 times a week around smokers and that was probably the hardest part. Well that and the fact my wife decided to quit with me and only lasted around 2 weeks and went back to smoking.

Here's the thing------you have to really want this for yourself, not for someone else to have better success at quitting.

Good luck and I hope you can someday offer some advice to others who want to quit by your success.

Read a little about free-base nicotine and how they intentionally try to make it as addictive as possible

I quit for a year then thought I could only smoke on weekends
8 months later I can assure you it doesn’t work like that
I haven’t smoked in a week & it sucks

Stay away from people that smoke
Don’t drink if you were a drinker / smoker for a couple of weeks
If you smoked in your vehicle get a ozone generator & put it in your vehicle - ran one all day it mine & it made a huge difference
Keep something in vehicle, I like cinnamon Altoids, that you can grab easily
Roll down window as if you were smoking, I think the sound / air actually helps
Know that if you pick it back up you are going to feel like shite & it makes it that much harder to quit the next time
On breaks at work walk around the parking lot, if you stay in when you used to go out it will make you feel anxious
It’s about starting new, healthy routines

Good luck to you

You have to replace it. Start running it will make you really not want to smoke. If you can’t run right now, work your way up to it. Walk, bike, elliptical, etc.

Also stay focused on your larger “why” for doing this. That will pull you through the times of temptation.

Does that work?

Chantix is expensive if your insurance doesn’t cover it
0.5mg is around 250.00 a month on my current insurance
Luckily I had a lot left over from last year when it didn’t cost anything

It makes me nauseated to the point of having to take a nausea pill
The dreams I have are fricking nuts, not scary but very vivid

If you can start Chantix it is worth it, it will make smoking taste like eating shite & help with the cravings

It made my Dad feel like he had a terrible flu for 2 weeks but he quit & hasn’t smoked in over 10 years

Once you are steady on the 1 mg 2x a day are when the nausea / dreams started for me

Even with Chantix quitting is hard

the struggle is real when it comes to having an oral fixation, or the constant need to have something in your mouth. But thankfully, you have options. Instead of reaching for a cigarette, try penis

This is correct. I bought out the entire stock at the gas station near my shop over the course of a few days when I quit. Frito Lay BBQ or Ranch.
