So, those are delivery systems, not nicotine in and of itself.

In the grand scheme of things, nicotine as an addictive substance isn't as harmful as some of the others. But it's not, by itself, "risk free." And the vast majority of people who have it delivered have it done so in a much more harmful way. Yes vaping is less harmful than smoking, and so is dipping. But it all has its risks. Glad I'm not a slave to it anymore.

And caffeine is not comparable to nicotine in terms of addictions and withdrawals.

Have yourself a heart attack. That was the only thing that finally got my dad to stop.

Good luck to you. There is a lot of good advice in this thread but, in the end, it really comes down to how much you want to quit. I must have tried thirty times before it stuck. The only difference is that the last time that finally worked I just knew I was done. Hope you make it. For the longest time I could not imagine life without cigs. I don’t even miss them now.

Hang in there. I used sunflower seeds to kick the dipping habit. Over 3 years since I have had a dip and still get a random craving here and there. You can do it, just hang in there.

Read Allen Carr's "The Easy Way to Quit Smoking".

It's helped millions of people quit smoking, including me.

Day 3? The worst is over.

Cravings are things you allow to control you. You're almost there.

Just do it man. It’s worth it. It’s really bad for your heart. You got this.

I quit dipping last year. For the first month, I wanted to rip my gums out. I knew it was the right decision though and just stuck with it.

9 years, 11 months, 26 days for me. From 2 packs of Camel Wides a day to nothing.... Totally comfortable with people smoking around me but still if you sit across me and place a pack of Camel Wides in front of me, my mouth waters.... It's a strong addiction but it's mind over matter.

Update: 9/15 was my last nicotine anything, but why do the Aggies have to be so horrible too??? I’m borderline 30% of the alcoholic I was in college again, except I can’t recover as fast

I might consider picking up nicotine gum before smokes

My brother, sister and I all quit smoking with acupuncture. Mine cost $50 bucks. Diodes in ears and wrists for an hour.

My brother said he knew people who quit with the nicotine gum that then became addicted to the gum.

I got acupuncture and was stressed out that I would want a cigarette but never really did after the first day.

My thing was the routine. I didn't smoke in the house and have a TV in my garage. My brother used non-nicotine gum but I got the small mints that come in the tins. They last about as long as a cigarette.

So when I wanted a cigarette, I would go to the garage, turn the TV on and pop an Altoid. Watch TV until the mint was gone and go back inside. Good for another hour to hour and a half.

After 2 days, I was pretty much good to go. The next weekend a friend called and asked when I had done the last mint. I looked and my house alarm was still on and it was 11 a.m. and I had gotten up at 6. I knew then that I had smoked my last cigarette.

I smoked my last cigarette over four years ago on April 30th
