Well you have to have internet from somewhere. Unless you got that special bandwidth from air. All customer service sucks when customers don't get what they want. None of us like price hikes, but they are a part of getting service.
My only problem is all this customer loyalty shite that companies puke out. They give better prices to new customers, and shite on existing customers who've been around forever. The only way existing customers get a break is to threaten to cut service. And you have to do that every time.

Yes they do. The worst is when you return the cable boxes And then two years later you see a hit for 500 on your credit report.
frick cox.
Then years later I have cox again, go to return the boxes after quitting them again. They won't give me a recipt. I take video of the woman writing numbers on loose leaf.
A few months later, cox calls, said I haven't returned the boxes. I get an email, email the video and the paper's image. . They didn't want to accept that.
I had to pay the lawyer to write them a letter.
I'll never go back to them again. Ever
frick cox.

Get a Satellite phone for internet access and leave Cox behind!

I’m pretty sure they’re all bad. There needs to be more competition to fix these assholes.

I think they are finally going this route and have it tested in a few markets. From what I have heard the short coming is no DVR, and you cannot rewind.
They will probably also go the route where you have to watch the commercials and cannot FF through them like some of the current streaming services do.

I did it about 6+ years ago, but the wife wanted so many different options that we weren't saving money and still didn't have a DVR. The biggest mistake we made was we did not research what shows are on what applications. Once you figure out what services you need/want; all you need is a reliable internet connection and a device that plugs into your HDMI (unless you can get them through your smart TV app).
I used/liked Roku, my brother uses firestick. It was a 1 time purchase and it was a central location for all of the apps (Sling, Hulu, Prime, Netflix, Vudu, Flix, CBS, NBC, ABC...).
The only tech hurdle you should face is the DVR service, if you want to record live TV. But most live TV has free streaming services that you just have to wait 1-2 weeks to watch if you do not catch live.

OHHH but then you lose the financial black magic known as the "bundle". I cancelled the cable portion of my cox service and they immediately raised my internet by 35 bucks. They have felt the pinch of cord cutting and are responding by punishing you for not buying shite you don't really want. My only hope is that as more fiber lines get laid there is eventually competition and the market catches up with them.
Good point. Lose cable, and lose your internet bundle discount. It's a racket. And I agree, hopefully fiber lines give some alternatives.
The way things are now, it's a really fricked up industry and none of the providers give a damn.

Comcast says hold my beer while I hold your cal and hang up on you.

Their business fiber support is pretty outstanding. We have an SLA with them if we lose connection or degraded service that causes an interruption in business they have to pay us. I have only had my service go offline 2 times in 6 years. You pay for it though $850 per month for 40 up and down.

Then get rid of them and get Direct TV.

I am hearing it'll be just like Comcast Infinity Flex. Which still has a set-top box and remote. Completely stupid.

That is stupid. What is the point if you are trying to get away from the boxes? With some of the best internet speeds & wifi on the market; they would be stupid not to go to a smart TV app, or a plug in that connects in the back of the TV.

You will all be back to a cable provider (insert name here) once all the media companies start their own streaming service and pull their content to their own streaming platform. Everyone is trying to get in the OTT game right now. Otherwise you are going to be paying more altogether for Netflix, Hulu, Roku, Disney, or whatever, plus your internet service to do the streaming. It will all come full circle.

100% agree with OP. I left cox years ago because of customer service.
