I thought the results of the study indicate Covid 19 as 3 times more deadly than the flu (with extreme social distancing measures in place)? I'm confused, now.

I added a little to my post, for clarity

Maybe I wasn’t picking up exactly what you meant. My apologies

I tend to ignore anyone who calls this virus a hoax after the havoc it’s caused, but I do find it amusing that people will use estimates when it helps their argument, but when it’s to the latter it’s a hoax and governmental propaganda

Not a hoax at all, but the info coming out from LA County and elsewhere calls for a total reboot of our approach to this. The lockdown approach won't work unless done in select areas to prevent hospitals from being overrun.

My opinion this whole time is that I take ALL of the information that is presented by the appropriate sources, then configure my own family’s ‘protection plan’. I’m not going to sit here and judge you, or anyone else for that matter for how they are currently living unless it directly affects me or my family

Yeah, but who the hell knows who the "appropriate sources" are for something so unprecendented with actions being taken on so many levels?

Social distancing doesn't affect death rate unless the spread is so out of control that the healthcare system can't keep up.

We found the Oil Field Wife "Karen" - I saw this same thing from her on facebook yesterday.

Karen is shitting her pants because this has interrupted her lifestyle.

Karen is used to her husband being gone but sending her money so she can do whatever the frick she wishes daily, not having to cook and shite.

No, the OP is.

if only people with severe symptoms are getting tested, OF COURSE YOUR DEATH RATE WILL BE HIGHER

there may be many people out there that get cold like symptoms or even no symptoms that aren't getting tested

edit: I see what you are saying. It does however affect number of deaths.

That still doesn't tell us our reaction was worth the ultimate cost.

I'm not saying it was or wasn't - it's likely too early to know, if we will ever know - I'm just saying.

The fact that it's nowhere near as deadly as feared doesn't make it a hoax.

A hoax would mean the virus wasn't real. It's obviously real.

It's truly amazing to me that a virus can be so asymptomatic in so many people, and yet, kill others. Yes, a lot of us get the flu, and hardly anyone dies, but I don't know of anyone who gets the flu and doesn't realize it.
