I’d have a hard time making 50cents a meal.

Done it a few time while hiking, if you are smart with you purchases it's not hard, you could survive on Ramen for that long if you needed to, potato aren't expensive.

quote:

According to medical estimates, most healthy adults can survive without food for up to 2-3 months if they have access to water. However, this timeframe can vary widely depending on the individual factors mentioned above.

What if you took the idea and gave yourself say 50 bucks a week. With that you cold add quite a bit more, including some meat.

But the idea you eat meat every day is very much 20th century thing. If you did not hut, at best most folks got meat 2 or 3 times a week and mostly in the form of salt pork.

We pay a lot without thinking for convince and as things got easier to get we got very unhealthy.

You think that was due to meat?

I think it had more to do with the idea they figured out germs.

Of course. After all, you're going to eat how you eat until you die.

No one's going to be eating anything after they're dead.

Not hard to do at all, but would get pretty bland pretty quickly. Also, things that she used like baking powder, dried herbs, etc. weren't included in that $12.

The US should bring food stamps down to $50 per person/dependent a month. It can obviously be done.

Those life expectancies are skewed because of deaths in childhood. If you made it past 10 or so you typically would live a while.

Figuring out antibiotics makes up the other gap.

Just FWIW

How much was the baking powder she used to make the bread? It wasnt in the basket.

Didnt see yeast either

I make bread on the regular and use sourdough starter that I have had for years instead of yeast, and I never use baking powder, just water, starter, salt and flour...so maybe she does the same.

SIAP, but:

Beans + Rice = complete protein.

One can survive just fine on that diet.
