Kohls is going to start accepting and processing Amazon returns. My understanding is, you will be able to get your money back at Kohls / have your card refunded right there, and they will handle shipping the items back to Amazon (in bulk).

Kohls already sells some Amazon products in some stores.

Towards the end of the article, there is a mention that one day, Amazon may buy Kohls.

There's also this stat:

quote:

About 85% of shopping is still done in stores, so it makes sense that even an e-commerce giant like Amazon would explore the options in bricks-and-mortar. But Fournier doesn’t think an acquisition is in the offing right now.

I really think the eventual winners in retail are going to the ones that dovetail a great online and bricks experience. Same pricing throughout - buy online and get it in a day or two without having to leave home, or buy in store and get it right then. Can return to store.

The store is important because you can't hold or test the product on-line.

No. Kohls is our last, great hope against the Amazon juggernaut.

Why take an Amazon return to Kohls when USPS will pick it up at your house

That number must include shopping for non-durable items like groceries and such. I would expect durable goods outside of most major appliances would be closer to 40% if not substantially higher.

I love kohls model. Jack the price up 40%, then have a 30% sale, and watch people fall over themselves buying stuff.

Well you would still need to make sure you have a box and packing material for the return. I just got a ton of stuff from a baby shower that we wanted to return, but didn't have all the boxes they came in. So we lost a tad of the refunds having to buy boxes. And as easy as Amazon returns are, you still have to find a printer for the label (if you don't have a printer at home), pack it yourself, bring it to UPS, then wait 3-4 days before you see the refund. If I can skip all that and just drop it off at Kohl's and immediately have my refund I would definitely welcome that.

Kohl’s? Can’t say I’ve shopped there. Then again, I’m not poor.

Amazon could buy them but why?

If you don't have the original packaging, if you want the refund quicker, if you don't want to leave the package for the guy to pick up, etc.

I wouldn't drive 30 min out of my way to Kohl's, but if I had to pass one anyways, why not?

Amazon refunds me as soon as UPS scans it for the first time.

Kohl's are some sneaky fricks. Here's what they say about their "prices".

quote:

“Sale” prices and percentage savings offered by Kohl’s are discounts from Kohl’s “Regular” or “Original” prices. The “Regular” or “Original” price of an item is the former or future offered price for the item or a comparable item by Kohl’s or another retailer. Actual sales may not have been made at the “Regular” or “Original” prices, and intermediate markdowns may have been taken.

Wife (no pics) used to really love shopping at Kohls. I have no idea if she was getting a good deal or not, because the "original price" is an absolute fraud, no different than the "original charge" that doctors use to bill insurance companies.

I don't feel like she's spent a ton of money there though, relative to what she buys.

She doesn't go much anymore though, because their return process has become a bit of a mess. Even with a receipt, they harass her on returns if Kohls cash is involved. Also, we've tried to exchange several items for just a different size, and they won't less us do it... we have to return the item, get refunded, and then re-buy it, even if it's now at a higher price.

Sometimes I get that too. But the last couple I've returned I had to wait. Not sure if there was some difference in the returns that makes some get refunds quicker Not a big deal. But like a poster above me said, if there's a Kohl's on my way to work or something it would almost always be easier to drop it off and be done

How did you manage that without Kohls, boxes, packing material, and a printer
